DH and I are going to WDW July 16-21. We would like to fly, but driving is an option, but we would really like to fly just so we aren't exhausted after the trip. That being said, I keep watching Southwest rates going up, so I'm not too encouraged with that. Through Travelocity, Expedia, etc. I found Delta tickets for $207 each, with pretty good departing/returning times. The flight down is non stop, and the flight back stops in Cincy before returning to Louisville. The catch? I would have to call Disney and change our reservations from the 16th-21st to the 17th-22nd. Otherwise, the flights are higher with less desirable times. I would also have to redo our Fantasmic dinner reservations, since they are on the 16th.

That all being said, is it worth it? Is $207 a good, average, bad price?? I'm not an experienced flyer by no means, and I don't really know the trends.

Hello, I'm from Green County south Louisville. We fly from Indy most of the time on southwest because we get better deals there. They do have direct flights as well that get you there around noon and home around 3:00PM. We are going in April for less than $100 per person; we got a SWA Ding. We went in Dec right before Christmas for less than $100 on another Ding. I have better luck getting Dings for Indy than I do LSVL; I get them for LSVL, usually they are just not that good.

If you can drive to Indy, I would check them out. There is also a thread on the Transportation forum that tracks the dings and the prices. I know SWA is not dinging for that time period yet, though.

We live close to Indy and we are waiting for them to go down. We usually fly, but unless the tickets really go down in price and some better flight times open up, we will be driving this year.

ATA really spoiled us over the years because they alway had an 8am non-stop and a 7:30 pm return non-stop for under $150 a person. We are just not finding it this year.

I am driving to indy from cincy because i got airfare for 188.00 each for 5 of us .alot better than cincy which was 250.00 and up

I don't think Indy is an option, it's nearly four hours from here. I don't think my husband will go for that, so I will have to stick to something in Lexington, Louisville, or Cincy. I'm really debating these $207 tickets. Part of me wants to hold out for something cheaper, but part of me is afraid it will increase to a price we won't be able to afford.

Check the internet prices with US Air. I'm not sure if summer rates are out yet, but they have $168/rt rates for certain dates in April and May.

$207 is pretty good. We paid $205 each rt for last October and that was the absolute cheapest I saw Delta go for that time.

I've been looking for fares for the first part of June--nothing cheap right now. And the 1st part of Dec. and they are currently wanting almost $300 rt. Still waiting...

We've always flown Delta out of Lville because their flight times are better and they have more direct flights than SW. And I've yet to get a SW flight cheaper than Delta on any trip yet.

I did sign up for DING and have been watching but nothing special yet. They had $79 each way last week but it was valid for travel on TUESDAYS ONLY. What the heck? And it was only for travel through 4/30. And by the time SW tacks on all the fees that $79 each way turns into $100 each and I can fly Delta for that.

So I'm STILL waiting to book anything for either trip.

You may be able to get a cheaper fare through DING eventually but you'll have to watch until a couple of months before your trip. Delta always seems to raise their prices way high when you only have a couple of months to go.

Long story short... book the Delta tickets or wait for SW.

Good luck! :thumbsup2

I forgot to come back and mention that I booked this flight, only I got it for $202 through the Delta website. Well, sort of. That's what it was listed as, but when I tried to buy it, it was coming up $279. So I called Delta and was able to book it through the phone for $202. We are so excited!

Got SW out of Louisville last week, July 2-8, for $188 roundtrip; now it's up to $262 Fun Fare; plus it's nonstop going down.

I know you got your tix already but just wanted to post that I got my tix for June 1-5 on SW today for $157.10 each rt!! Very happy with that!! And that wasn't even a DING. That was just an internet fare that popped up during regular reservations.

Now, we've never flown SW so I hope I made the right decision. :rolleyes2

I live in the Louisville area. My children and I are flying out of Indy on June 13th, roundtrip, nonstop both ways, for $157 each on Northwest. The cheapest thing that I was finding out of Louisville at the time that I booked (two weeks ago) was $235 each. It's a savings of over $300! We are getting a hotel room near the airport (already booked for $52) for the night before to go swimming, order pizza, and get to bed early to start our vacation on the 825AM flight. I figured that by the time I've paid for the hotel and gasoline, I've still saved $200.
