I want to thank everyone for your replies.
About the tests, I am not sure what it is. He has already seen one dr., and they thought he had it. They did a test that they said would take 6 weeks for the results. I am not sure if it is back yet, but I believe that dr. has said they didnt think it was Lou Gherigs. So, they went for a second opinion, and this dr. seemed pretty sure that it was. But they did some tests and told them 1 of them would take 6 weeks for results.
This last dr. did seem surprised that he is not in any pain right now. He is still working. I am really not sure what all his symptoms are. I know he is having trouble using his arms, and can't raise them up above his head.
