EDIT: PLEASE LOOK AT POST ON 3/2
Planning a big trip in 2026.
Need transportation hoing from MCO to DW (contemporary) for 6 days, then
need transportation going to the universal resort (Adventurra hotel), staying for 5 days.
THEN need transportation to Port Canaveral to go on a short disney cruise
THEN need transportation to MCO.

Is any of covered (I know I know I know probably not, but I am unsure if Universal transportation options, and disney cruise transportation options.

If something isn't covered do the reports offer transportation between any of these places for a fee?
If not and I have to go with private transportation between any of these places what do you recommend?

That's quite a range of needed transportation. You will have to pay for each leg of that. Your options are:
1 MCO to Contemporary - Taxi, Uber/Lyft, Mears shuttle bus, private car service. Depending on the size of your party Mears may be the least expensive.
2 Contemporary to Universal - Taxi, Uber/Lyft, private car service. Again depends on the number in your party.
3 Universal to Port Canaveral - A few different options
Get to MCO via taxi, uber/lyft and then take DCL bus from the airport to the port
Take a private car service from universal to the port (probably less expensive than the above option and easier as well)
4 Port to MCO - Taxi, Uber/Lyft, private car service or DCL bus. Again it depends on the size of your party.

A note about party size. Taxi, Uber/Lyft and private car services are per vehicle. Mears or the DCL bus is priced per person.

There are only 3 in our party but we will have about 5-6 suitcases (because it is a long trip and we will have souvenirs.)

This may sound like a dumb question but does the Minnie van thing just take you around the parks/disney springs? About how much does it run? (There are three people in our party). Does it go to or from the airport? Other resorts? Like an uber service but just run by Disney?

Yes, the MV run only on Disney’s property - to/from the resorts, parks, and DS. Club level resort guests can book them for airport transportation but otherwise they don’t provide airport service.

As far as cost, they’re booked via the Lyft app, and my understanding is they cost more than a regular Lyft.

So to give a little more information:
There are only 3 of us in our group. However because it is a 2 1/2 week trip we will have a lot of luggage probably about 6 suitcases medium to large size (we also need room to take home souvenirs). So that is why I wonder if Uber or Lyft is do-able. Uber also pissed me off because the last time I used them between a hotel to a pier in NY to go on a cruise ship they more than triple the quoted price. Claiming it was a high rush time or whatever but then it should say that before you book the car not after. I didn't agree to the price they charged me.
I also don't want to spend a lot of time on a bus going around to every other hotel but ours.
What to you guys recommend. It is our really big trip so I wouldn't mind spending a little more money. But nothing too too ridiculous. You can see the first post to find all the places we need to go. (No we aren't renting a car we don't like to drive in an unfamiliar are plus the cost of parking. when it is unnecessary.)

Need transportation:
From MCO airport to Contemporary Resort in DW
Contemporary Report in DW to Adventurra Hotel at Universal Studios Orlando Resort.
Adventurra hotel at Universal Orlando Resort to Port Canaveral to catch our DIsney cruise ship!
Port Canaveral to the MCO Airport.

Any ideas?

Price out Tiffany Car Service (some other private car services/Tiffany comes to mind right now), Mears, etc. They all offer cars, vans, mini vans, etc. Go on their website. You will have to price each leg of your trip.

(Not in the city much (NYC) - last time we were in the city, we found taxi to be less $ than Uber.)

I have no idea how much this would cost, since I haven't rented a car in Orlando in years, but have you considered renting a car?

None of them will be covered, so here's what I recommend:

MCO to Contemporary: Mears Connect if time isn't a factor, Uber/Lyft XL if you want to get checked in and to the parks as quickly as possible. Mears connect is cheap and reliable, but if you're early to your bus and the last resort to get dropped off, it can take a long time. You can use a taxi, but in my experience, they're just more expensive rideshares. I've always had great experiences with rideshare in Orlando.

Contemporary to Adventura: Uber/Lyft XL. Door to door in as little time as possible and for a reasonable price. Same note as above for taxis.

Adventura to Port Canaveral: Private transfer. You could probably do a rideshare, but getting a ride all the way to the port would be more difficult than just around Orlando, and I would be more comfortable knowing a car will be there at the time I want. I like Transportation by Mike, but FL Tours, Tiffany Town Car, Mears, and many other companies also offer this.

Port back to MCO: Disney transfer bus. These allow you to leave the ship whenever and get on the next available bus to the airport. Getting rideshares from port back to Orlando can be difficult and expensive. Maybe compare the price of a private car, but the Disney busses are convenient.

Does Disney have transportation from their hotels to Port Canaveral?
It's a paid service. It won't pick you up from your Universal Hotel.

Luggage is the issue. I'm not sure an XL is big enough.

Check a few car services. FL Tours, Tiffany and Mears luxury have been around. Don't just get a quote for 3 passengers. Make sure the quote includes a vehicle large enough for your needs.

Using Mears Connect for your first leg and DCL for your last leg might save you a few dollars

GearFusion. :flower3: They will have a vehicle big enough for all of your trips and they will schedule pick up/drop off times for each leg. You will have a firm price quoted for each trip and they will stay in touch with you throughout the entire process. I cannot recommend them enough....great service!

If You can you would be better off staying at universal first using their shuttle service. Then Uber/Lyft to Disney - an XL should work as you have less people but be mindful these are personal cars so on a rare occasion the person may not want luggage on the seats. From there us DCL buses through Disney.
If you choose the original Adventura has AVIS at the hotel book a minivan or SUV and you should be ok.... Its the luggage...you can use DCL bus to go back to the airport.
Uber and Lyft in NYC is ALWAYS up priced better with a yellow cab most of the time from Penn station or where they have a taxi line.
prebooking will not work it is at time of pick up.

Some suggestions that may or may not fit your wants but consider pros and cons:

swap WDW and UO to start at Universal
  • This would allow you to use DCL transportation from WDW to Port Canaveral, and you can also book it post-cruise from Port Canaveral to MCO.
  • I know you said you don't want to ride around on a bus to other resorts, but it's soooo convenient especially pre-cruise. WDW CMs pick up your luggage in your resort room and you don't see it again until you are on the ship.
  • Post-cruise, again very easy. Buses depart Port Canaveral as soon as loaded, so you shouldn't have a long wait and it goes straight to MCO with no other stops.
consider packing a little lighter
  • Maybe 1 large suitcase and a backpack each?
  • Yes it's a 2 1/2 week vacation, but maybe you'll have a quiet day mid-trip when you could do some laundry and hang by the pool. Nobody likes to do laundry on vacation, especially an anniversary vacation, but personally I can't imagine trying to drag that many suitcases around.
  • Also keep in mind that you'll need to store all that luggage in your (small) stateroom onboard the ship as there is no guest storage elsewhere. And unless you pack it all just right, you'll be sorting through suitcases to find the clothes you need each day.
  • Souvenirs can be shipped home from WDW/resort. I don't know if Universal offers a similar service but if not maybe you can pack a USPS flat rate box and ship it yourself. Often the front desk will take mail/package for the post-office to pick up.
scratch the idea of using Uber/Lyft
  • unless you reduce the amount of luggage
  • it may also be hard to get Uber/Lyft to or from Port Canaveral since that's a longer trip
  • I believe Lyft (and maybe Uber) has peak surcharge rates in effect in the Orlando area, so checking price in advance may not give you an accurate idea unless you do so around the same time you'll need the ride
MCO to first hotel
  • Regardless of whether you swap WDW/UO or keep the original plan, use a towncar service from MCO to your first hotel.
  • You can probably schedule the same service to swap between hotels. It can all be pre-planned, priced, and paid. Just make sure to account for a tip each time.
