Last week whilst at WDW, we decided at the last moment (as in the day before morning) that we wanted to stay another day at WDW since we were having so much fun park hopping but our ressie was for a BC at VB (was for 2 nights - we did spend one night there and I posted a room report elsewhere)

We called MS from our BCV room they had a BWV GV for us for the one night we wanted to stay. MS booked it up for us, used the 53 pts for the BC from VB for the night and we borrowed the 21 pts difference from our Dec04 use year. MS was totally cool doing this and were a pleasure to deal with.

We checked in around 3:30pm - met MIL in the BW lobby and the GV #5047 was ready for us - I cannot even begin to describe our reaction on entering the room. Pictures cannot do it justice - the huge common living area, 3 bedrooms, large dining table, the Boardwalk view with 6 walkouts to the balconies.

Room #5047 is at the "start" of BWV BW view rooms working from left to right facing BWV from Crescent Lake. We were above the General Store and Thimbles n Threads. The room noise was virtually nil with the doors closed and many times we walked onto the balconies just to take in the view and listen to the cycling piano player on the BW.

The view was great (this was our first BW view at BWV) and the MIL was very impressed by the room and layout and privacy with the Master Suite separate from bedrooms 2 & 3

The room was in very good shape - the hardwood floors needed a good cleaning with Murphy's Oil Soap or something like that - sticky areas, crayon marks etc. We thought MK would have taken care of this during the room cleaning process but they did not - we called MK and they did come and clean the sticky areas. Took a second call to get them to take the dishes that were left in the hallway by the prior occupants or by MK themselves along with the blender and parts (not sure what the prior occupants did but looks like they had quite the party).

Also had to call mtce. to come and replace some burned out lightbulbs which they did promptly.

We received lots of magic from the front desk and resort staff - DS#1 came down with mild chicken pox that morning and we had to take him to a Blue Cross clinic (was a bit of a distance over on Boggy Creek in Kissimee). Anyways the wait for medical help was about 2 hours which of course put us past the checkout time. MIL stayed behind to watch over DS#2. The resort staff, MK and front desk were very helpful and understanding of the situation and granted us extensions as required - turns out we needed one until 1pm - they took good care of us on that trip and we were very impressed with the professionalism of the BWV resort staff.

The room and view was just amazing and was another part of the great 2 week WDW/USF-IOA trip

I will be posting pics probably in March of the GV

thanks

Oh my goodness chicken pox! I sure hope the baby doesn't come down with them. You guys should have gone to celebration ER DR. Mansur is great. You could have told him Lauren sent you!::yes:: I totally agree I as well thought Boardwalk staff was very helpful and kind with medical situatuations! I can't not wait to see you Photos of BWV's Grand Villa. Hope the little guy is feeling better!

Thanks twinmomplus2new, DS#1 case was actually quite mild - little itching and he was very very good going through the medication etc.

DS#2 not showing any signs yet - a couple more days and we will be in the clear

Of course since they are all in Ft Lauderdale at my parents condo it makes things easier this time of year

I wanted to go to Celebration but our Blue Cross coverage from Ontario, Canada for out of province did not have a copayment program with that establishment.

thanks

Hi,

Glad you had a good time!!! Sorry about the chicken pox!!!!

Thanks for the report! Was this a one-story GV?

Hope the chicken pox are mild! We extended our O KW GV stay an extra night the day prior to leaving and got the same exact GV at BWV! It was faboulous and your description brought back many memories. We bought the BWV sketch in the general store to remind us of this special stay. We couldn't believe we had the whole top floor facing the board walk in the first red building. The master bedroom had one of six balconies AND a side window overlooking the courtyard. Glad you were as impressed as us. Amazing that this GV is available like this with one days notice. Once is a fluke, twice starts a pattern. WOnder what is up with that.

Ah, I can't wait to stay in a GV!!! Maybe for our 2006 trip we'll give it a try! It'll take that long to have enough points! LOL

I suspect the second post explaines the first. The BWV GVs are so many points, that few take advantage of them. We love our OKW GVs and their point costs! I'm glad to see they are making SSR GVs somewhere inbetween.

I think we had the same unit at New Year's! We had 12 people all totalled, staying from 12-28 through 1-2-04. It was unbelievable, roomy and convenient to everything. The best part though, was a bird's eye view of ALL of the fireworks at midnight on New Year's Eve! We all stood on the 6 balconies, drank champagne, and toasted the New Year in complete comfort. The crowds underneath us were 12 deep!

I am having withdrawal symptoms, right now.............(sigh)...........
Oh well, I do have the week of the 4th of July to look forward to at HH!!

Sounds like a fantastic room! Too bad about the chicken pox.:( Hope both of your boys are OK. Thank you for posting!:)

Jaysue - We are staying in our first GV at the BWV in December. I think I heard that all the top floor GVs were 2 story, is that correct?? Can't wait to see your pictures.

We only lost the 1/2 day to the c-pox. Thanks for all the kind replies. DS#1 really was great and barley slowed down at all for the c-pox. DS#2 has not shown any symptoms yet so I consider us all fortunate.

Maybe the pixie dust sent us by BWV staff helped out :)

Interesting to see so many DIS members have stayed in the same room

It is a 1 story - 2 entrances, 1 double door and 1 single door by the 2 bedrooms - the main room was just huge

It was 78 points for the one night so not cheap but at the $6.25 or so per point I reckon our points cost - about $4.35 in mtce and $1.90 in straight line depreciation of the original cost, the cost in my books of about $480 was worth the experience.

This was the only BWV GV open on Wed Jan 28, all were sold out for Thurs Jan 29 so not sure if any pattern or just blind luck.

thanks again for all the kind remarks

Cheers
