I am getting married at WDW in December, 2006. We are having an intimate wedding with 18 guests at the Boardwalk Resort. We want to have some sort of dinner or "reception" afterwards and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions??? We thought about maybe doing the Polynesian Luau or Dinner at Cinderella's Castle, but I am not sure all of our guests will be purchasing park tickets (they will all be staying on the property, though). Any suggestions on where to go or what to do???? I have been to WDW many many times, so I know most of the restaurants, but I am curious on what ideas and suggestions other Disney Brides might have. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. THANK YOU and have a MAGICAL DAY!!!

Hi and Welcome!!

I haven't even booked my DFTW yet, but there are PLENTY of VERY knowledgable Intimate Brides on this board, so you are in luck!

The only comment I wanted to make was about the Luau. I went there in 2004 and I hated it. (I never ever thought I would use that word towards a Disney experience, but, oh well). Just wanted to give you my thought on it, I bet there are people who have loved it too. Anyway, I am sure you will get plenty of Feedback (Fulton's Crab House is a popular choice!).

Congrats on your Wedding!!

Congratulations! When is your date? I am 12/11/06 at the WP!

I would definitely not plan on using Cinderella's Royal Table for your dinner. Large party bookings there are very, very tough to get. We are using the Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club for our RD (well, no rehearsal, but you get the idea) since we are getting married at check-out time on a Monday and are sending everyone home after spending the weekend with us! :flower:

If you like the Polynesian, lots of brides have had great success with Ohana's and since it is served family style, it's easier to budget for.

Congratulations!

Hello Hfehr1s, our intimate wedding is at the Poly on 11/06 & we'll have dinner at Ohana's after we wedd. We thought it was easy for everyone & no one in our party will be on a mission. Congratz! hopefully I helped.

Just wanted to verify that I very much enjoy Ohanas/Poly, I just don't like the Luau!

We had ours at Yachtsman Steakhouse. They set us up in a sperate room where it was just us. We only had 12 people though and that's about all that would fit in that room, but I'd still hiiiiighly recommend Yachtsman. The food was incredable, the service was superb and they even did special menus for us, with our names and the date and just the items we wanted, without the prices so no one worried about getting the expesive thing. It was soooo nice. Paul is the manager and we called and set it up with him he was great.

Melissa,
Where was your wedding ceremony?? That picture is amazing -- did you have Disney Photography or outside services??

Thanks.

We got married at Sunset Pointe at the Poly. We used Randy, but amazingly that's one mom took on her camera. We're still waiting on the ones from Randy so we started playing with mom's in photoshop and whola. hehe it's a good subsitute til I can get the 'real' pics which I'm DYING to get.

I would recommend the Yachtsman Steakhouse as well. We ate there the night after our wedding with a group of friends and had a fantastic time. The food was excellent and the staff was even better!

One note that no one else mentioned: if you do have your dinner at CRT, beaware you'll have to change out of your wedding clothes. They won't let you into the parks in your wedding dress.

The Yachtsman is good, we have eaten there in the past but we ended up having our reception lunch at the Portebello Yacht Club in DTD - it was awesome. We had the limo take everyone there after the cake cutting ceremony at GF (it took two trips) then we had town cars pick everyone up and return them to their resort after lunch.

Melissa,

Did you have a different cake for the dinner at the Yachtsman? I just love the Mickeys on it. I was wondering if you could request that design for an intimate cake. Thanks!

We could only do the regular cake at the wedding. But, what we did was we got the Yachtclub bakery to make us the Mickey head cake and have it delivered to the resturant for dinner. They had it sitting on a table in the corner of the room throughout the meal, then the waiter (Bill, who was beyond wonderful) moved it to the table for our second cake cutting, with even more YUMMY cake flavors. So we basically did 2 cake cuttings. Here's a pick of our second cake cutting it was a long day so our neice was totally asleep by then, and made the pictures extra cute:

I'm also getting married at the BWI (sea breeze point). Our family on both sides are fairly picky eaters, steak is the best bet for us...so we are having our dinner at Shulas because 1. its very close 2. we like the decore(lots of dark wood) 3. the service and food was great. We also decided to take some more advantage of where we were located and booked a desert party for afterwards in Epcot to view illuminations. This should all work well for us because everyone is staying at the BWI. We found that booking our desert party was eaiser to do through Epcot catering they were not as restricked and customized many things for us ( also cheaper).

MATTinNH,

Are you having a Custom or Intimate Wedding?? The Epcot Illuminations Desert Party sounds wonderful, but is it an option for Intimates or just Custom??? By the way, Thanks to everyone for all their great ideas and opinions about the dinner options!!1

The Illuminations Dessert Party is available to all brides, BUT, they tell intimates that they are not allowed in in their wedding attire, so if that's important to you it's something to consider. We did a Wishes Dessert Party at the Grand for our welcome party. It was very nice and much less expensive with only 11 people. But I'm not sure about how that would work with wedding attire either, as it wasn't a concern for us, I think it would be allowed because it's not in the park, but like I said we didn't ask.

That's a shame...I thought that intimates could wear their dresses if they booked with FTW dept. Oh well...

Thank you so much for the info!! I really appreciate it!! We just signed our letter of agreement and are getting ready to send in our deposit. Jennifer (the planner) said she would be sending us some type of planning kit??, will that include choices for the desert parties and items like that -- or is that something we will have to plan on our own?? Again thanks for all the info!!

WDWbride2007-don't be saddened. I just talked to my EM on December 20th, 2005 and she told me that intimates can wear their dresses to the Illuminations Dessert Party as long as you book it through DFTW department. There's still hope.

the desert party is seperate form the wedding---we booked it through EPCOT catering. NO Wedding dress because its not technicaly attached to a wedding. The guys are all waring suits and the brides maids are doing those seperates you see in att the bridal mags--so they'll be fine its just my wife to be that has to change and it was all her idea so shes ok with it. plus like I said its all so close, a few minutes to change real quick , or a pit stop for everyone back at there rooms is fine, because its on the way.
