Lots of dumb MB Questions

I have a question about magic bands and payments. I know that when you checkin they take a credit card for everything you charge to the room via magic band... But what if you have multiple people in a room with different payments, can there be separate cards for each magic band? (Ex: roommate A gets a souvenir and doesn't want it to go on the total bill) Just hoping there's a way to avoid having to go through all the charges to see who owes what at the end.
We tried this on our trip in February 2014 - two non-related women traveling together, both with separate credit cards. We were assured over and over again that our charges would stay separate, since we each had a separate PIN for our own magic bands.

Long story short, despite several attempts over the weeklong trip, all of our charges (both my friend's and mine) went to my friend's credit card. After having to go to the front desk of the hotel three different times, three separate days, to have our charges separated out, I gave up trying to use my magic band for charging. It was inconvenient and time-consuming to have to keep having them manually separate our charges.

They might have fixed this problem by now, though - this happened to us two years ago. Has anyone tried to do this recently?

We were very successful keeping charges separate in August. Two people in a room with bands changing to separate cards for each of us.

I do his every trip. The best thing to do is go directly from the front desk to the gift shop, buy something small, go back to the front desk and check your acct to make sure it's charging correctly. If it's not, you can have them fix it then.
also, it is important to look at the folio before you leave and make sure your charges are going to your card. If not, you can pay for your charges at the front desk before you leave. (The folio itemizes magic band purchases with the persons name, so it's not a big deal to go through)

Thanks for all the good info!

One more question... How many people pay for a different MB when they already have a free one? We'll be getting them sent, but I'm really tempted to get the Orange Bird one! Am I crazy to pay for one when I'm getting a free one?

When I was there in Dec I purchased a different band. It was a limited release and wanted from the day I saw it online. I plan on using it again when I go again when ever that might be.

If you're really concerned about losing them, look into something like these:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T2B7XSA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01

You just put them over where it attaches and it holds the band in place. 21 of them for $6. You can also get official sliders from Disney (like the AP and DVC ones) but they're much heavier and left indentations in my wrist (I like to wear my MB tightly). These are much thinner and stretchier (like a silicon rubberband if that makes sense).

Timing is important when paying off charges that have been made to your room. I also like to pay off the majority of our trips prior to going. We purchase a couple of $100 gift cards at BJs every month until I have what I think we'll need. During our last stay at BWV I went to the front desk every other evening to pay down what had been charged. It worked perfectly and is the key to making sure your credit card is not charged. If you forget this step the resort will charge your credit card. On the last day I used gift cards until there was less than a gift card amount left. (ie., gift cards were for $100, $37.15 was left on the bill) That was paid with our credit card. I did this because I don't like having a gift card that is partially used. It's too hard to remember how much was left. We left WDW with a couple of gift cards which are now included in the 'stash' for our trip this year.

This also helps by saving approximately 8% (4% on the gift card, BJs price and 4% cash back on grocery purchases from our credit card. Our credit card considers all BJ purchases as groceries.)
