Lots of Aussies

I don't think I'm imagining this, but the cruise staff seems to be high in numbers of Aussies in proportion to the other countries. I'm certainly not complaining, because the Australian CM's we encountered certainly added to the wacky fun on the cruise. Wonder if that's why they hire so many? Seemed to be a high number in the kid's clubs too. Diana

We've been on two Magic cruises and have yet to meet ANY Aussies on the cruise staff. Actually, most of the cruise staff we've met are from South Africa...

I noticed and unusual amount of Canadians.

Let's see....on our last two cruises....on the cruise staff there was John from Wales, Robin from Austrailia, Sean from South Africa, Powell from U.S.), Ellen & Ian (don't know where they hail from).

I did see a lot of UK cm's in the spa. I think it is a pretty good mix all around, though.

I think you see less U.S. CM's because they would probably get taxed much much than the oversees CM's, therefore their take home pay would be less.

It seems to me that they hire CM's from English-speaking countries for work in the kids' clubs and other customer-facing areas such as the cruise director's staff. Definitely more English-is-not-my-first-language folks in other positions.

I've noticed lots of Aussie cm's too. In fact, I noticed lots of Aussie passengers on the 7/6/02 cruise. Another fact, we had so much fun with the Aussies on the 7/6 that we're actually bringing 2 Aussies on the 7/5/03 cruise with us.

And sprint car racers, too.

Hmmmm, I've never noticed. We've always had a huge mix. Hungary, England, Macedonia, France, Trinidad/Tobago etc.... Meeting people from so many different places is one of things I LOVE about cruising DCL!! Maybe all those cool Aussies were just drawn to you!!

We have met a lot of "Ozzies," although not in a higher proportion than other countries. My favorite Australian is P.J. from the Gold Coast...he's a head server on the Wonder.

I love PJ, too! It's always so nice to see him again. I did notice alot of Canadians. Jeff and DJ Giggy G (cutie patotie) are both from Canada. They are on the cruise staff, always around doing somethin FUN! I love being with the people from all over the world. Adds to the "magic".
