Lost phone

My wife lost her phone in animal kingdom. We did the lost and found thing. What are the chances she ever sees it again. Any tips?

I think their lost & found procedure is very effective, your odds might be better than you'd expect. I'm not super savvy about cell phones, does it have any value to some random person? I guess if someone is a pro they can hack into it and cause problems, but I wouldn't think there are a large number of folks at WDW who are in a cell hacking ring. If we were talking cash or an expensive camera, it'd be another story.

Good luck, hope it turns up.

I agree as mentioned above, some random person finding your phone won't be able to use it without knowing your password. Is there any value to someone else finding your phone, not like finding cash or credit cards. Isn't there a GPS thing on phones that lets you track location?

Keep calling it. Hopefully someone will answer it and you'll be able to reclaim it.

DS lost his on a 60 minute flight. It fell out of his pocket when he fell asleep. We looked all over the plane for it, FA helped us after everyone else had deplaned, we just couldn't find it (last flight of the night, got in about 11:45P). We ended up calling it the next morning (had tried multiple times when searching the plane for it), and a passenger had picked up, taken it out of the airport and to his house. I still don't know why he wouldn't give it to an FA, gate agent, or airline employee.

My sister lost hers on TOT about a year ago, didn't realize until we were about to get in line for Star Tours. She did the online thing, but we also went to Guest Relations in the park and they were able to get in contact with the people at TOT and track it down. She had it back within an hour or two.

I have found phones in the parks twice, both at Epcot, and I turned them in to the nearest CM. I hope they made it back to their owners. Both of them were left where people had been sitting, so make sure when you get up from a bench or planter that you check for your belongings.

Here's a nice little lost & found story: Just a few years ago we returned to our rental car in the MK parking lot only to discover the keys were missing. We were on the verge of panic as we walked back to the park to check with guest services on Main St. Sure enough, someone had already turned them in, they were probably only missing an hour or two.

Back in the 70s, I lost my wallet at one of the quick serve places. Every guy on the planet knows that deep feeling of dread when you reach back for your wallet and it's not there. I went back to the quick serve place, truly believing I would never find my missing wallet. Sure enough, though, someone had found it and turned it in. All I had to do was tell the CM what was in the wallet. Everything was still in the wallet too!

This is why I started using a phone lanyard in the parks; I prefer to keep it under my shirt on rides, where I can feel it at all times and there is no possibility of it falling out of a pocket.

Just a quick update. There was a gift card in the phone case that was no longer there when she looked through it. We had transferred the balance minutes after she realized the phone was missing but some removed the card.

On my last WDW trip my phone fell out of my pocket on Space Mountain. I informed the CMs and filed a report at City Hall. Within 24 hours they had recovered it and I could pick it up at lost and found at Disney Springs or they would mail it back to me free of charge. I was going to reassure the OP that they are very good with such things, but it seems that it has already been resolved, which is not surprising at all.

They probably figured it was the easiest to use without consequences. Good on you for transferring the balance and thwarting the thief! Glad to hear you got everything else back.

I have lost track of how many phones I have found at Disney! They fall out of pockets so easily on rides.

I've had a cell phone returned. Just dropped it and someone found it in the garage where I parked. Checked my preset numbers and found where it said "Home Phone" and called me at home. However, that was an older phone without any kind of security. The guy who found it turned down any gift; he was an attorney and I picked it up in his office.

There are weird things too like the time my wife forgot her's at the TSA checkpoint. I just called it, they picked it up, and it was easy going back for it by just calling again. I think they're pretty used to people forgetting their phones by now and having a friend/relative call it. That's about the first thing I would try.

But something like Apple's "Find My" feature is great, although not always able to figure where a device is.

I did just double check my phone and on the Unlock screen is a button for "Emergency Call". When you click that (without unlocking the phone), you get a list of people that I've programmed. You can then select one and are prompted to find out if you want to call them. This is on a Samsung Note 20. I assume other phones have a similar feature.
