Has anyone ever recovered something from lost and found from any WDW Park?

The reason I ask is my DD (5) lost her brand new monkey that we got at Animal Kingdom this weekend. I called Central lost and found and of course it was never turned in. The only thing that I can hope is that the little kid who found it needed it more than my DD.

So it made me think, how many people have gotten something they lost returned.

I lost a hat on our last trip; I took it off on Test Track to sit on it, and hopped up at the end of the ride and left it. The next person in the car would have sat right on it, but never turned it in.
I could only think that someone took it because it had a Mickey pin on the front and a Donald pin on the back, cause the hat itself was a pretty ratty, used 4 year old hat.

I didn't necessarily go through the lost and found - but here's my story.

After getting off the trucks of the Sunrise Safari last September, a woman behind me goes "oh - congratulations!" to me. (all week people were saying that to us as we were wearing our 'wedding ears'...but not on this safari.) I turn to her, say Thanks! then..."how did you know?" she's like "oh - your minnie bride pin!" I look down at my purse where the pin was and say "Dang it - Tinkerbell is missing!" (i had a tink pin on there too.) "It must have fallen off on the safari ride when my bag was in that net." Ah - no worries I thought, it's just a pin.

without me knowing it...this wonderful lady went and spoke to a CM ...who radio'd over to the safari ride. 20 minutes later our 'guide' came up to me at the tusker house and presented me with my lose tinkerbell pin. Very very sweet.

I lost an brand new ESPN 25 hat I had bought the same day I had lost it. Somewhere between space mountain and buzz lightyear (probably on buzz lightyear).

No one turned it in. :(

a CM gave me another hat though, for no reason but to be nice.

his wallet at Animal Kingdom when we were there on our honeymoon!..he was carrying it in a fanny pack (yeah..not a wise idea he found out) and had opened the pack to get something out of it after we bought pins at Hester and Chesters..a little while later when he wanted ice cream..and opened the fanny pack again..his wallet was missing..of course I went into full panic mode..we went to the nearest CM who was by the ice cream cart..she called the lost and found at the gate..and lo and behold..some honest person had found it and turned it in immediately..all intact, cash, credit cards, id..etc....what a relief!..thankfully there are still a LOT of honest people in the world..all I can think is that whoever found it realized how THEY would feel if they lost their wallet at WDW~.and they had turned it in within minutes of losing it!...good luck in finding your 'monkey'!

My son left his Pirates sword either in a stroller on on a bus to the hotel. I took a chance and called lost and found and they sent me a sword. Surprised me, especially considering the postage for the sword was the same as the cost of the sword.

DH has lost a pager and a cellphone which have been returned and I lost a bracelet which was returned. In fact the Polynesian mailed it to my house after we had returned home.
However I have lost a camera and a watch that were never returned.
And no, we are really that bad with losing things. This has been over the course of quite a few trips. ;)

I have called lost and found twice and no monkey has been turned in.

But it is good to see that several people have gotten their items returned.

I lost my camera bag (with the camera inside) at Electric Umbrella (Epcot), by the time I realized it and went to lost and foud, it was already there.

My brother lost his Mickey baseball cap somewhere on Dinosaur (AK), went to lost and found but it never got turned in.
