Lost/found ticket FP hack

There have been a number of times I've found a lost single-day ticket in DL. If someone's nearby, I'll ask if they've lost theirs, of course. I always try to be about doing the right thing. However, if finding the rightful owner is simply impractical/impossible, I'll pocket the ticket and use if to double down on Fast Passes. I've often wondered if I should turn it in to a CM, but it feels to me like that's not going to get it back to the original owner. Anyone else ever done this? I usually travel to DL solo so this is an occasional bonus for me.

I would immediately turn it into a CM, but that's just me, no judgement here! I take a picture of my ticket so if I ever lose it Guest Services can re-issue it. I've never had this happen so I don't know if they re-issue a ticket with the exact same number. If they do you could be taking someone else's FPs but if they issue a ticket with a new number I don't see how you're hurting anyone else's trip.

If I lost my ticket, the first thing I'd do (after looking around myself) would be to go to Guest Services and ask about lost and found.

Naturally you should turn it in to a CM. It really isn't any different to finding a camera or a pair of Ears. It's something of value that doesn't belong to you. The fact that the original owner may get a replacement ticket isn't relevant.

And sometimes replacement tickets aren't that easy to get. I tried to replace my sister's convention ticket before and it was a huge headache - the confirmation number in the email/ticket wasn't what they needed, they needed the confirmation number from a specific attachment, and I couldn't open it on my phone, etc. After messing with that with CM's for about an hour, we gave up and went to get some lunch, and luckily while we were eating someone turned in our missing ticket along with some other items that were with it, saving us a lot of trouble.

Just checked with a friend who's a DL CM. Here's what she said:
"If they have proof of purchase they get their ticket replaced. Tickets get lost so often that returning it without a signature on the back probably won't end with someone getting it back. I'd say keep it."

I have found those on three different occasions. It has never occurred to me to do anything but take it to a CM or city hall.
Many times people dont have proof with them that they bought a ticket. They shouldn't be punished.

I always turn tickets into the nearest CM. Last weekend I went with someone who used a 1 day hopper and they took a picture. Plus, there was a name attached to the e-ticket, so they may re-print lost tickets if they have that info on file.

yikes. I found someone's ticket when I was at DLR earlier this year, didn't even think of keeping it or using it for a FP. I turned it in to a Cast Member.

I found several magic bands at WDW once (They had somehow been left in a pile under a table.) and turned those in. Would you pocket someone's lost magicband?

Not to mention, if someone did have a picture of them and reported them stolen, and you scanned it at a Fastpass machine it could get embarrassing.

I would return it. I would regret ruining someones day at the park. So many ways a ticket is traceable. Other people in their party probably have the next sequential number anyway.

I find tickets quite often, perhaps while always looking down to avoid tripping my mind has become sensitive to rectangular bits of paper

While I usually give the ticket to a CM (particularly if passing City Hall or other Guest Relations locations), but will admit to occasionally using found tickets to pull extra fastpasses :goodvibes

Magicbands are ultimate tracking devices, and so turn them in ASAP. Normal Tickets (at least the KTTW ) also have RFID. Not sure on DLR ones.
RFID can be read from a distance and so if those are reported missing, Disney sure can track them.... as cards/magicbands also open room doors (u don't know which room) & make merchandise charges (you potentially can get tons of stuff). Security may come down on you & ruin the vacation.

No RFID at DL. :offtopic: You can't make purchases on a MB without the PIN number to my knowledge (but I've only been to WDW once). And security ain't tracking down lost MBs, Disney guest relations just turns them off: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/bands-cards/lost-magic-band/

MB purchases require the PIN. And they don't track you like that.

But my gosh, ticket or mb, it's not yours. Don't use it. Turn it in. You don't get to use it on your way to turning it in either. It's not yours.

This happened to me this year, June 2016 in California Adventures. I found a ticket on Buena Vista Street early in the morning. I did think about keeping it for the extra Fast Passes but I just couldn't do it. I went straight over to Camber of Commerce Guest Services and handed it in, telling them exactly where I found it and at what time.

Well, obviously Disney will not tell you they can track MB whereabouts. Remember several years back the stuffs you can read about Disney tracking MB and customers behaviour. They just had that episode behind them now.

Sorry for OT.

Good to know that DL does not employ RFID, so none of those mumbo jumbo about Disney tracking your behaviour and customising services for you. Nevertheless, I would just return someone's tickets to the nearest CM, just the right thing to do.

In reverse when WDW was paper FP I would often give others an unused one I had if I was leaving the park. Extra pixie dust! The look of pure joy on their face if it was a headliner!

I would turn it in.
