im just curious but what does this island have to do with Universal? im not saying that in a bad way im just wondering why it was chosen to be an island. was it in a universal movie or did that just randomly put an island based on greek gods and goddesses?? any response would be helpful thank you!!!

No, the Lost Continent isn't from a movie,.and it's actually supposed to be a mix of several types of themes, greek/arabian/medieval all together. This is one of the few places at IOA they can really get to diversify the attractions without it having to fit a certain specific movie/comic/etc.

The theming of this island is just incredible.
I've found these pics when the island was under construction

.

Most islands at IOA are not based on Movies, but based on stories. The only exception is Jurassic Park; Speilberg, quite rightly, wanted a place to put the River Adventure.

Marvel Comics...based on stories
Seues...Based on stories...
Lost Continent....based on the earliest stories (Camelot, Greek Legends, Arabian Nights etc)
Toon Lagoon - Based on comics, too.

Hope this helps!
