Lost & Confused about Free Dining

We are staying at All Star Movies Dec 10-17. I booked us in Feb. with the DDP. If they open up the Free Dining to the GP for Dec. will it affect me? If so, how?

Well one if you got a rack rate...I'd call when it is open to the GP and add it. And of course it maybe harder to get popular ADRs....like Le Cellier, Cinderella's Royal Table, Coral Reef, etc. Might be a bit more crowded...but I don't really know about crowd levels/dec/free dining...so I might be wrong. I know that sounds like a lot maybe...but I am sure you will still have a wonderful time

If you got a discount on the room make sure you take that into consideration before you switch. To get free dining you will pay full rack rate price for the room. -for our family free dining is the way to go, I have a little one that loves character meals, but for some families a room discount is better kwim?

I second this! Which discount is best depends on your party size, ages, and resort that you are staying at. Since we are a party of 4, and the kids are considered adults (12 &14) by Disney standards, and we are staying at a moderate - the DV FD was cheaper for us than the AP 40% room discount with QSDP added to it.

The main thing you want to do is call as quickly as possible once the code goes out to the general public. Sometimes there are strings attached like only a certain number of rooms at each resort can get the deal. If you wait you might have to change resorts. Last year they released the Oct - Dec magic your way discount. We had booked a trip in March for WL. We did not find out about discount until mid October and we had to switch to AKL in order to get it. We saved over $700 just by changing resorts- so i'm not complaining. BUt if we had called earlier we could have saved $$$ and stayed at our first choice resort WL.
