"LOST" Anyone else re-watching Season 5....?? **WARNING: Season 5 SPOILERS inside!!**

Do you have Netflix? You can watch the whole series instantly. Even though I have all the DVDs I find myself watching it on Netflix since it's easier.

No, I don't darnit. I wonder if hulu or something similar has them.

"Hi I'm Larry. This is my brother Daryl and this is my other brother Daryl". :lmao: Sorry, I love it when I recognise actors from old tv shows. :happytv:

You can do the free trial with Netflix, or if you already did that, just subscribe for a month for 8.99(thats the cheapest option that includes unlimited instant watching online)

From what I saw, ABC has SOME episodes online, but not all. I watched Seasons 1-3 on there last summer and then they changed the site and didn't have all the episodes. I ended up doing the free trial of Netflix to watch Season 4 and then did the 8.99 to rewatch season 5 in December.

ABC has all the episodes of Seasons 1 to 5 online at abc.com. You just have to download their player to watch them....for free. I have made it part of my Sunday morning ritual. Make myself a pot of coffee and watch a couple episodes. I figure I'll finish the first week of February - just in time for Season 6

No.

Something else I thought of though, Swayer and Juliet saved Amy from the others, if they hadn't wouldn't she have been killed, and therefore not married Horace, gotten pregnant, and given birth to Ethan?

If they hadn't saved her, would Ethan have ever been born?

Right! And this plays into what Daniel said about "what happened, happened", meaning that no matter what they do when they travel back to 1974, they can't change things. BUT.....we never know if they COULD have changed anything. Maybe if they hadn't saved Amy, maybe the Others wouldn't have killed her. We just don't know.

If you were on the boards last year while Season 5 was airing, there were some pretty involved discussions on the Season 5 thread about whether or not the Losties could change the past. Quite a few people felt that whatever the Losties did when they went back to 1974, that is what they've ALWAYS done in the past. Including Juliet falling down the hole and setting off the explosives.

I, on the other hand, thought that their actions COULD affect what happened in the past. Various folks on that thread tried to explain time-travel to me, something about linear vs. circular, etc., etc. I was just not convinced. After all, time travel isn't possible (as far as we know), so who knows what the rules are? In a tv show, the rules are whatever the writers want them to be.

SEASON 5 SPOILER WARNING!!!!
...

Ok, I just re-rewatched the opening episode of Season 5 via the "Bonus Material" and it had the writers commenting on what was happening in the episode but they were also commenting on ALL of Season 5, and they said something that I didn't quite realize while watching Season 5 the first time; they said that Daniel kept saying over and over "What happened, happened" and that since we, the viewers, take his word on everything since he's the scientific mind on the show, we believe him. And in the beginning of Season 5 Daniel firmly believes that what happened, happened. Period. But by the end of Season 5 (and this is what I didn't realize until I heard the writers say it just now), is that Daniel is wrong, and slowly realizes it. He realizes that you CAN go back and affect the outcome of a situation.

So....maybe this explains a little of the inconsistencies?? I don't know, I'm just along for the ride. :lmao:

BINGO!!! That's what I kept saying all along last year on the boards....they CAN change the past!:banana::banana: So maybe Juliet detonating the bomb was NOT what caused "the incident"......maybe she really did change what happened!

And poor Daniel....he didn't realize that you CAN change the past until it was too late. His mother shot and killed him (while she was pregnant with him).

Remember the Back to the Future movies? Marty had to be careful not to change things or else he never would have been born. That's the way I see Lost.

Hmm, so I guess not only do we have to re-watch Season 5, but we also have to watch each episode with the director's commentaries? Geez, where am I going to find the time to watch each episode TWICE??

LOL. I was so afraid to post on that thread last year. I kept wondering how folks became such experts on time travel and how could I possibly be out of the loop on all this ? I felt like you did. I thought the reason that Daniel kept saying, "What happened, happened" is because eventually his theory would be proven wrong. Can't wait for the Season 6!

Add me to the re-watching list!! I'm re-watching it on Netflix from the beginning, right now I'm about to wrap up Season 3.

Hope I can finish Seasons 4 and 5 by the premiere!
