HeatherPage's thread on LOS passes, or more correctly the Ultimate Park Hopper pass, made me wonder about the value of the UPH pass compared to a regular PH pass.

A five day Park Hopper pass bought with a DC discount is $219.42 for an adult (per Deb Will's site). How much would a 5 day Ultimate Park Hopper (LOS) pass cost? I'm assuming the UPH pass had already shed the first and last days of the stay so we're talking full days to full days.

Where are the UPH prices listed? and are they the same for adults and children or do they have the same break as the Park Hoppers.

I know the PH passes are good forever, so I'm assuming the UPH is less expensive for the same number of days?

Just curious if someone has these numbers.

You cannot assume that they will drop first day and/or last day. They are not supposed to, but I do understand it is done quite often. Guess if you went and purchased the tickets the morning after you checked in it would work out just fine.

If you are planning on taking advantage of Disney Quest, the water parks, etc., it is cheaper than buying your tickets a la carte, that is with the 10% DVC discount.

My only caution, as I mentioned before, is that it does expire on midnight of the last day. I would think this kind of ticket would make you feel that you had to rush to do everything it entitles you to in order to make it worth the money. Maybe not.

I have read a couple of posts from people that had their trips ruined due to illness and bad weather and then to tadd insult to injury, their tickets were not valid once they checked out. Just something to consider.

Hi Granny! I'll do my best to try to answer your questions...

First off I'm assuming we're looking at the 4 Night/5 day UPH. The prices are broken down as follows... $263.96 for an adult; $210.95 for a child; $251.24 for an adult with DC discount; and $210.41 for a child with a DC discount. In addition, if you are staying at a DVC resort using DVC points you are entitled to a 10% discount on UPH which ends up being a better option than using the Disney Club dicount (I don't think you can use both, but maybe someone elsecan confirm that).

By now you've probably noticed that the UPH are actually more expensive than the Park Hoppers. The reason for this is the unlimited access to other Disney areas normally requiring separate admission (what Disney calls a "Plus"). These areas include Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Pleasure Island, DisneyQuest and Wide World of Sports (if I've missed any please let me know). With the UPH, you could go as you please to any and all of these attractions in addition to the 4 major parks. With the 5 Day Park Hopper, you have unfettered access to the 4 major parks but you must pay a separate admission fee for each admittance to a "Plus" attraction.

You do have the option to purchase a 5 Day Park Hopper Plus pass for $249.10 for an adult and $199.28 for a child (both after using the DC Discount, there is no DVC discount for Park Hoppers). With this pass, you are entitled to unlimited access to the 4 major parks and the days never expire. You would also be enitled to 2 "Plus" options, meaning you could go to a water park one day and DisneyQuest another and these would be included in your admission price. Similar to the 5 days, these "Plus" options never expire.

Hopefully this rambling helped a bit.

They will allow DVC members to drop 1st and last days from the UPH pass.

As already mentioned, the cost of the UPH for 5 days is $263.96- minus the 10% DVC discount lowers it to $237.56.

You do get admission to all Disney Theme Parks, water parks, Pleaseure Island and Disney Quest during those inclusive days. If you will go to a water park and enjoy Pleasure Island (several nights) the UPH will be very cost effective. If you will only use it for park admission, the Hopper Pass will be a little less costly.

If there is a chance you will return within 12 months, consider an AP, as long as your park days will number at least 9 during all trips during the 12 month period. If you will use water parks, Pleasure Island and/or Disney Quest during that time, the UPH may even be a better value than the AP. Just do the math on the features you are likely to use.

When our DD and her husband joined us for 8 days last year, we purchased the UPH since we went into the parks each day and they enjoyed PI and DQ 6 of the nights while there. They could not return within the year, so the UPH (with the DVC discount) was considerably less than an AP or Hopper plus pass.

I believe that the DC discount is only for the park hoppers and the DVC discount is only for the LOS/UPH. We've always purchased the Parkhopper plus passes for our family because we return every couple of years and unused days are still good. But we had a situation last time when one of my DS didn't want to waste a day of the hopper for just a couple of hours so he didn't come to watch a parade with us. I think if he had a LOS pass he wouldn't have looked at it that way.

There is a DC discount on UPH (about 5%). There is no DVC discount on any admission media EXCEPT the UPH.

Thanks for the fast responses, everyone! :D

I wasn't aware that the UPH pass was automatically a "plus" pass. I just figured they had both a UPH and a UPH Plus package. So that was very good information to get.

Good advice about the AP as well. In fact, because we banked our first year of points, we are going to WDW 3 times within 12 months so we bought AP's.

But I'm planning ahead (sound familiar?? ;) ) and looking at the years after 2003 when we'll only be going once per year and will be looking at the UPH vs PH options.

Of course, by then we may have added on enough points to make an AP the right choice every year!! :sunny: :sunny:

By then maybe DVC will give us a discount an the AP?? Okay... so its wishful thinking. DVC are you listening??????? I am not asking for a free pass (although that would be nice), but a discount on the AP would be wonderful!!!!!
