I am a HUGE Loreena McKennitt fan - have been for years. In her latest email newsletter, it announced that she was providing music and narration for the new Tinker Bell movie. I'm so excited! Here's the short article:
Loreena sings theme song and narrates Disneys Tinker Bell
July 1, 2008.
Earlier this year, Walt Disney Pictures approached Loreena to compose the central theme song for its upcoming DVD release, Tinker Bell. Then they asked her to do the narration as well.
Loreena McKennitt has had a profound effect on the production of Tinker Bell, say the producers of the film. After immersing herself in the film's story, seeing the movie's rich artwork and meeting the filmmakers, she was so inspired that she penned lyrics for Tinker Bell's central theme in a single evening.
Loreenas song, which pays homage to the wonders of Pixie Hollow, is called "To The Fairies They Draw Near." She sings during two key segments of the film and producers describe the song as an enchanting aural illustration infused with old world, Celtic overtones.
In turn, the filmmakers were so taken with the singer-songwriter's passion and her ethereal, other-worldly voice, they asked her to supply the film's voice of
narration, explain the producers.
Tinker Bell is due to be released this fall as a DVD and Blu-rayTM Disc.
