Loosen your belt buckle-We're doing Deluxe Dining!Our 12/10 PTR!Update 12/18 TR Start

Since we already know our cast of characters and the reason for our mini getaway, we can jump right in to the fun stuff!

Saturday August 21
This was my day to finish up the laundry and pack up the luggage we would need for our all too short time at WDW. My goal was to have everything except the cold food and toothbrushes/deodorant, etc. Well, I met my goal! Our small suitcase was packed, dvd player set up in the car, food packed, stroller cleaned and stowed in the car, all by 5:00! Go me! I tried to get to bed early, but of course I was too excited to sleep, and was awake until about 2:00am! :scared1:

My alarm woke me up from my blissful sleep at 7:45 and I bolted out of bed! Today was Disney day!!! I quickly showered, woke Toby up and then woke Olivia up. She was up pretty quick when she realized that we were going to Disney! After Toby showered and we all brushed our teeth, hair and put on deodorant, I packed up our bathroom bad and put it in the trunk.

By this time it was about 8:25 and we had to leave the house by 8:30 so I could get to church by 8:45. I quickly wrote a sticky note of what I needed him to do before he came to get me from work:
1. Turn the a/c up to 80.
2. Turn off all the fans.
3. Get the cooler of frozen water out of the freezer and put it in the car.
4. Take the lunchbox of cold food and juice out of the fridge & pack it.
5. Take the trash out and down to the curb.

Toby and Olivia got to church to pick me up right at 12:00. When they came in, Livy was crying :guilty: Apparently Toby had accidentally slammed her finger in the car door! :scared1: I grabbed some ice and she seemed fine within a few minutes. Service ended a bit early, so I was done and we were on the road by 12:15! That was 15 minutes ahead of my schedule!!! Woo Hoo! The drive up normally takes about 1.5-2 hours depending on the time of day. My goal was to be pulling in to Pop Century by 2:30.

We grabbed some lunch at McDonalds just before we hopped on the interstate, then it was smooth sailing!

Someone is excited to be on the way to WDW!

Less than 15 minutes later:

After about an hour and 15 minutes, I knew we were getting close:

Here is one of my favorite things to see. I remember this seeing this as a kid, knowing we were REALLY close:

Olivia woke up about 10 seconds before we saw this:

After a couple more minutes of driving through the best place ever, we pulled up to a stop light and saw:

Woo Hoo!!! We were here, and it was only 1:45!!! I love all the signage as you drive up to Pop:

We pulled in to the check-in lot and hopped out to stretch our legs and make our way inside! While I checked in, Toby took some pics of the lobby for me (he also told me that he felt totally ridiculous taking pictures :confused3 )

When I had switched our reservation from All Star Sports to Pop, I had requested: 4th floor, refurbished room and also bed rails and fridge to keep meds. We were assigned 50s bldg 2 3rd floor. I was 99% sure this was not a refurbished room so I asked if there was a way we would be able to get 4th floor and refurb. The lady was so great! She looked and said that she had one in bldg 9 that was 4th floor, refurbished and had a pool view, and it was ready now!!! Woo Hoo! *I have to say, this is why I DO NOT check in online. I have always had better luck checking in with a person that has the ability to search for a different room if at all possible.* After we had a map to parking and our room, as well as our keys, the lovely CM called to get the bed rails and fridge delivered to our room.

Now it was back to the car and off to see our room!

How awesome to be ahead of schedule and then to be able to get a room change too! Good point about not checking in online... I'll tuck that tidbit away!

I was SO excited to be ahead of schedule! With a 2 year old, we are usually pushing it right to the minute with a schedule, but I was pleasantly surprised! The whole to do or not to do online check debate can get heated! I have done online check in when we stayed at SSR and we just really didn't like our room location and it was quite difficult to change (since when you do online check in everything is all ready when you get there) so even though the exact area we requested was available it was quite time consuming to change since everything had to be redone. Ever since then, I have not done the online check in, and found it much easier to change anything. Just my opinion though.

yay for the mini tr!!!

Loving the pics so far!!!

The last time I stayed at POP, I debated about online check-in and decided against it! I had also done the room requests and didn't say anything when I checked in but the CM was able to tell us that we were in building 6 (refurb one) but not the room number till later that day!

I have always found the CMs to be great at POP :)

Yay I love the mini TR so far! :cool1: That's so great that they could give you a different room! :)

I agree about the awesome CMs at Pop (more on that later in this TR...). Glad you're enjoying it so far!

Glad you like it so far! I've been pretty lucky with getting our room changed if we need it. We are not picky though...lol, we just wanted something different, and I really, really like the 4th floor. Something about hearing toilets flush above me grosses me out!

I love the mini TR! I am reading it and bouncing in my seat! Keep telling myself I'll be there NOV 30!!!!!!

Yay for mini TRs! Olivia is just so cute!

Thank you, we think she is pretty cute as well! I'll try and get another update in today...no promises though!
:rotfl:

Don't bounce too much, I wouldn't want you to hit your head on the ceiling! Nov 30th will be here before you realize it! Do you guys have a countdown going at all? It seems to pass the time faster for us.

yeah for mini TR! sounds like it is great so far with the perfect room? :goodvibes

I left off with us heading back to the car so we could park in the lot near our room. It took all of 30 seconds to drive over to the 90s parking lot and find a pretty decent spot. I hopped out of the car and took a quick picture of the HUGE rubik's cube. Toby thought this area was pretty neat (he has only ever stayed in the 50s) and loved all the 80s stuff, probably b/c we are both 80s babies.

The goal was to get everything unloaded and into the room in one trip. I know, I know, we were only staying for 1 night so how much could we really have? Well, since you asked: We had 1 carry on size suitcase w/ all of the clothes for the 3 of us, a huge reusable bag I got at the Disney store filled w/ misc items, a cooler w/ frozen water, a lunchbox w/ cold juice cups for Olivia, the stroller and the park bag. We unloaded everything out of the car and then put Olivia in the stroller and loaded it up! We did manage to get everything loaded up and it was off to find our room! After a couple of turns and an elevator ride to the 4th floor, we found our room:

Before we entered, I turned around and took some pictures of our view:

020.jpg

After taking the view pictures I told Toby that I wanted him to wait outside so I could take pics of the room before we tossed everything in. Well, it worked...kinda. I opened the room and saw that our bedrails and fridge had already been delivered!!! Yep, less than 5 minutes since we left the check in desk, and they were already here! So that messed up my perfect picture that I had in my mind, that and the fact that since I was the one pushing the loaded stroller and had abandoned it to take pics, my child was now looking straight up at the sky! Yep, the stroller was so weighed down that it had tipped backwards!!! I couldn't help but laugh, yep, I'm a bad mommy! So this is the only pic of the hotel room I have:
021.jpg

After we got everything in the room and put the cold stuff and meds in the fridge, I changed out of my work clothes and got Olivia a change of clothes as well. After a little snack, we loaded up what we needed and headed out to the bus stop. Our destination? Magic Kingdom! Olivia had a date with Goofy's Barnstormer!

Waiting at the bus stop:

And on the bus:

After a few minutes we were there, Magic Kingdom! I secretly dream of living in Cinderella Castle and having all of the MK as my personal playground!

Notice the dark gray, not "Happiest Place on Earth" colored sky....just keep that in mind....

We don't yet, but I think we are going to start one at 50 days. Since the kiddos are only 2 and 4 right now they don't understand how far away it is. I already have to answer the same question EVERY MORNING...TWICE. "Is today the day we go to Disney?" and my answer is usually the same... "not today, we go in XX days." It keeps me on my toes. :rotfl: Not sure if they will get it if it is visual.

I know, I know! I am so mad I didn't think to take one! I think I was just so frazzled and upset that my perfect room picture wasn't going to happen and I just didn't think to take it! My DH (who doesn't at all understand my obsessive picture taking) asked my why I didn't take one!!

I think the countdowns are great! I think it actually helps Olivia and reduces the number of times she asks when we are going! She knows that when all the Mickey heads are gone, it's time to go to Disney. I have to admit, after our trip I will miss the door covered with Mickey!

I love all of the Pop photos! Poor Olivia having her stroller tip over. Did it seem to bother much?

I love Pop! I am looking forward to our December trip and taking time to walk all around the resort and take pics! Olivia really didn't mind the stroller tipping, but I think it made her mad when I started laughing at her! She definitely wasn't upset though.

That's so weird. My 4 year old is also named Olivia, and she gets very upset when we laugh at her. She actually yells, STOP LAUGHING, IT WASN'T FUNNY.
