Since we already know our cast of characters and the reason for our mini getaway, we can jump right in to the fun stuff!
Saturday August 21
This was my day to finish up the laundry and pack up the luggage we would need for our all too short time at WDW. My goal was to have everything except the cold food and toothbrushes/deodorant, etc. Well, I met my goal! Our small suitcase was packed, dvd player set up in the car, food packed, stroller cleaned and stowed in the car, all by 5:00! Go me! I tried to get to bed early, but of course I was too excited to sleep, and was awake until about 2:00am!
My alarm woke me up from my blissful sleep at 7:45 and I bolted out of bed! Today was Disney day!!! I quickly showered, woke Toby up and then woke Olivia up. She was up pretty quick when she realized that we were going to Disney! After Toby showered and we all brushed our teeth, hair and put on deodorant, I packed up our bathroom bad and put it in the trunk.
By this time it was about 8:25 and we had to leave the house by 8:30 so I could get to church by 8:45. I quickly wrote a sticky note of what I needed him to do before he came to get me from work:
1. Turn the a/c up to 80.
2. Turn off all the fans.
3. Get the cooler of frozen water out of the freezer and put it in the car.
4. Take the lunchbox of cold food and juice out of the fridge & pack it.
5. Take the trash out and down to the curb.
Toby and Olivia got to church to pick me up right at 12:00. When they came in, Livy was crying
Apparently Toby had accidentally slammed her finger in the car door!
I grabbed some ice and she seemed fine within a few minutes. Service ended a bit early, so I was done and we were on the road by 12:15! That was 15 minutes ahead of my schedule!!! Woo Hoo! The drive up normally takes about 1.5-2 hours depending on the time of day. My goal was to be pulling in to Pop Century by 2:30.
We grabbed some lunch at McDonalds just before we hopped on the interstate, then it was smooth sailing!
Someone is excited to be on the way to WDW!
Less than 15 minutes later:
After about an hour and 15 minutes, I knew we were getting close:
Here is one of my favorite things to see. I remember this seeing this as a kid, knowing we were REALLY close:
Olivia woke up about 10 seconds before we saw this:
After a couple more minutes of driving through the best place ever, we pulled up to a stop light and saw:
Woo Hoo!!! We were here, and it was only 1:45!!! I love all the signage as you drive up to Pop:
We pulled in to the check-in lot and hopped out to stretch our legs and make our way inside! While I checked in, Toby took some pics of the lobby for me (he also told me that he felt totally ridiculous taking pictures
)
When I had switched our reservation from All Star Sports to Pop, I had requested: 4th floor, refurbished room and also bed rails and fridge to keep meds. We were assigned 50s bldg 2 3rd floor. I was 99% sure this was not a refurbished room so I asked if there was a way we would be able to get 4th floor and refurb. The lady was so great! She looked and said that she had one in bldg 9 that was 4th floor, refurbished and had a pool view, and it was ready now!!! Woo Hoo! *I have to say, this is why I DO NOT check in online. I have always had better luck checking in with a person that has the ability to search for a different room if at all possible.* After we had a map to parking and our room, as well as our keys, the lovely CM called to get the bed rails and fridge delivered to our room.
Now it was back to the car and off to see our room!
