Loop Question

Hi!

We are planning FW in November 2007. We definately want to stay in a preferred loop because we have small children and want to be close and I think the cable will give them some entertainment while waiting to go out. We don't want to stay in a pet loop. Nothing against pets as we have 11 dogs but I figured that I would leave those spaces to pet owners and I worry about one of my little ones running up to a strange dog. Right now we have requested the 1400 loop but want so see what people think about it. We will be renting a golf cart but would like the option of walking to the ferry to the park. We have a fifth wheel and it's 31 ft long but my husband swears he can park anywhere. :sad2: We also don't want to be in a loop that has tons of traffic and noise. Just wondering what people think of this loop or would another one fit our needs better. Pet loop is okay but like I said I really don't want to take a space from someone that has a pet with them. Thanks!!!

We haven't stayed in Loop 1400, but loking at the map it looks like a good location and decent walk to Settlement area. We stayed in 1600 and liked area and last June 800. Loop 1400 seems to be popular and looks close to the Meadow complex. Loop 100-200 might be another choice.

I don't think you need to worry about the noise and traffic. I've never thought it was so busy and noisy that it disturbed me. I think the Fort is so well organized and laid out they took all of that into consideration when they designed it...plus most are families and they are spending most of their time just getting to and from the parks ...the noisiest thing I found was Dsiney Busses....Have a magical vacation!

This is my husbands first trip and I don't think he's too keen on the whole park thing. I really want him to have a positive experience since it'll affect future trips. I did look at 100 and 200 but they looked so squished on the map. They are in a nice location. I really liked 700 and 800 but they told me they were pet loops. The thing I didn't like about 1400 is that it looks like it's surrounded by quite a bit and I think hubby is looking for more of a wilderness experience. From any campground I've seen to get the full wilderness experience you have to buy a tent and head out into the woods. :teeth:

We were in 1400 for our trip and we loved it !! We had the campfire and laundry facilities in our backyard (well almost it was across the street). It was not noisy at all and we were surrounded by tree's. We had a cart so we drove to the marina and to the bus stop in front. But, its walking distance to the pool and the Meadows Store (can't remember the exact name).

We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely request it again.

It's the Meadows Trading Post, so you had it right on :thumbsup2

1400 is a very good loop.

You can hear more noise from campfire program but it is no big deal. You might have some campfire program smoke wafting by at night but no big deal most of the time.

The walk to Settlement and Bay Lake is about 1/3 mile but goes quickly.

Some sites have more trees and schrubs between them than others but that's the way it goes.

600 loop is easier for backing into your site compared to 1400 loop and it is better located for Settlement walking distance while still being close to Meadows. I believe it also has the fewest number of sites.

400 loop is also nice but farther from Meadows and more traffic than 600 because of being larger.

Pretty hard to have a bad experience while at FW, so I would suggest you not worry about it. If you have major concerns just post and I am sure the replies you get will put you at ease. :thumbsup2

We just got back from a 16 day stay at FW, we had loop 100 and we have a 32' 5th wheel. Some of the spots are a bit tight to get into, but there were 40' buses on our loop. I think that wherever you stay, you will be happy with FW. The great thing about loop 100 or 200 is that it is an easy walk to the marina and the Settlement store as well as Trail's End on days you want to eat the buffet. Breakfast is especially good. Have fun.

if you want wilderness experiences I could send you to many different places I've been ,but not in Fort Wilderness....It's a great campground in whatever loop you manage to land in...and for the most part you are going to be spending so much time in the parks the campground will be just a place to come and sleep at night...no worries it's a wonderful experience no matter what you are looking for I'm sure you will be pleased to have chosen it!
