I just checked ODPT.com and they have removed the date of April 23, 2004 and just have April. It tells you to check back for the date in the future :(

What a bummer! Sure glad I haven't made my airfare reservations yet. I feel bad for everyone who has. Let's hope the date stays the same!

Jen

but it is only from germany and it did only cost 2000 USD .. so i really will have a nice saturday evening on april 23rd without the event , but maybe we can spend the event fee for us 3 ( 375 USD) at the mexican pavillion and have a birthday party for a special lady ( with a chocolate covered face right now and lots of marzipan on her desk ).
I am sure this will be a margerita party to be talked about for a long time.. did they ever run out of this stuff ???? We can try at least ... :-) evilgrin
I collect names for the birthday bash .. so who is partying with us ????

Stephan

:cool1: :cool1: Wooo Hooo!! This sounds like an awesome plan!!! The more the merrier :) I'm ready! So who else will be joining us? Oh, and I promise to wash my face by then LOL!

Jen

Carol and I might be down there, but sorry, I won't be able to join you for a Mexican dinner.

please see my other thread and your mails !

No party for Jen that night !!!

Stephan

But any other day is good for me :-)

I've got two non-refundable round trip tickets from EWR to MCO for the April 23rd event. Oops, and what the change fee is $100, and your flights are now $500+ each to travel the following weekend....Yikes....What to do?

I would suggest you get on the phone to Disney (start with Event Services at 407-827-7600), explain the problem, and ask what their suggestions are. For each person who you talk to who cannot provide an answer that is satisfactory to you, ask them for the name and direct telephone number of someone who "has more authority" than them (don't ask for their supervisor, this phrase is stronger) and escalate.

Also, let us know the results. Remember, we have one person from Germany who has spent $2,000 on tickets.

Email has been sent to Lee Cockerell.
We paid $245RT each for a 4/21 flight, the same flight on 4/28 is $550 each on SONG from EWR to MCO.

I hope that date works out for everyone. Sad thing is guests really can't plan too long in advance on some events, as many do not seem to be a sure thing on any given date.

Jim Greene explained to me eariler this year that he is over pin events, except AK. If I understood him correctly. I do not know who is over AK pin events.

Early this month I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Cockerell (with others) for lunch at Taco Bell. Now THAT is something that doesn't happen every day. ;)
Very nice man, just as anyone would expect.

Stephen, I hope to join your gathering. It would be great to meet. Even better if Rob L joined your trip!

What do you mean by "he is over pin events". Does this mean Disney management is not planning other events or does it mean that he oversees events?

Thanks :D

Is it just me who is having problems replying? So far it has only been on this board. I enter my reply and get a dreaded 3 digit error message.

Anywho -- I tried to find my e-mail from Jim Greene. It was from earlier this year and maybe I deleted it.
Anywho, if I recall correctly, Jim Greene stated his team was responsible for the pin events -- except AK -- since AK had their own team.
Not meaning he was over the events, as in he is done with them.

I realize that if you've purchased a non-refundable ticket, you have a financial concern. Personally, I would not have purchased a ticket until my event registration was confirmed. They always have that "date subject to change" clause on the website.

The original date was out of the question for us. The new date has given us an opportunity to plan a trip to WDW.

April is a popular month for travel from EWR to MCO. SONG only has two non-stop flights per day. If I booked today for travel on 4/28 or 4/29 the fare on the 7AM flight would be $550 per person. I don't think I did anything wrong in booking early. I had to use up travel vouchers, and the event date was published on ODPT for weeks. We are not going to the event now. Disney Management doesn't care one way or the other.

I have an idea that could possibly work. This may require more than one contact. Call and/or write to people at Disney.

I would suggest starting with Kim at Event Services (she is the one in charge of the office that handles registrations) who you have probably met at previous events (407-827-7600). Then work up if she cannot help.

Start off explaining about non-refundable fares purchased, as well as additional costs which would be incurred due to change of dates. Ask if there is some accomodation that could be made. What comes to mind is a reduced registration fee (since you will not be eating any of the food or having the entertainment) and the ability to participate in the RSP. They would then send you the pins you have won on the RSP, as well as the registration gifts and maybe some extra pins to make up for the ones that you would have won in the event.

It doesn't hurt to try, and it might work.
