There is only 1 HA BWV 1 bedroom. It is 2049. December is the one trip when I REALLY want BWV because I love the Illuminations holiday tag so much that I walk over almost every night while DH watches from our balcony. We planned to go Dec. 3 - 10 but when I just checked I see that the first 2 nights are already booked. I don't really like the idea of "walking" a reservation but when you need a HA room and there is only one available....On the other hand, there are others who also need HA rooms, so I guess I shouldn't be so disappointed. Bummer for us though.

So sorry to hear this. But WAIT LIST if you haven't already! As you know, things change.

I know you & DH love the Boardwalk view, but would you consider a Pool/Garden or a Standard view as a back up? I don't know where the HA 1 Bdrns are for the standard views, but if they are close to the walkway to the bus stop, your DH will be able to see nearly all of the IllumiNations fireworks from the balcony, there, too. I know the Holiday Tag will be visible.

Sending pixie dust!

Yes, I did waitlist BW view. I once stayed standard view but it was not with DH so was not a HA room. I wonder where the HA 1 bedroom standard view rooms are? I am also going to try to do some date juggling. That time of year is always so busy in our family because of birthdays as well as holidays!

I can relate to that. I was at BWV for 5 days in December, and walked over to see Illuminations every night because I like the holiday tag so much.

Last night I went into Epcot for the midnight fireworks, but for the 6:30 pm fireworks (which was the last of the season with the holiday tag), I didn't brave the crowds, and just watched from the BCV lighthouse. It's not really a bad viewing spot, although you can't really hear the music.

Wow! I'm shocked that there's only one HA 1 BR at BWV. I'm even more shocked because when we stayed there recently, checking in at 1:00, we got this one, even though we hadn't requested HA, had wanted "high floor". Does anyone know if it's common to have such a low percentage of HA villas? Based on the # of times we've gotten HA villas without requesting or needing them, I assumed there were more.

I believe the OP is referring to boardwalk view rooms not the entire resort. Checked and there are 1BR HA rooms available for that time with pool/garden view.

Yes, I should have typed only 1 HA BW view 1 bedroom. Actually there is only one lock off HA BW view room, 2047/2049. So if someone books a 2 bedroom HA BW view room, then there are no HA BW view studios or 1 bedrooms left to be booked.

Apologies for this slightly OT question: What is a "holiday tag" as referenced above in relation to Illuminations?

illuminations is slightly different during the holidays. mostly a "let there be peace on earth" song with a few graphics on the epcot golfball.

As stated above a beautiful rendition of the "Let There Be Peace on Earth" song is added to the end of Illuminations. There is also some additional narration. The fireworks that accompany the song are wonderful and the grand finale is so big that it makes my lungs vibrate. I get choked up every time and I have seen the holiday tag at least 40 times. It is one of the primary reasons I like to go between Thanksgiving and New Year.

Also, Walter Cronkite does some narration, and a greeting ('Peace on Earth' if I recall) is given for each country, in that country's language, and while that country lights up briefly.

And as mentioned, the ending is spectacular.

i can fully understand your feelings about BW view - if we weren't able to get a BW view (normally, studio) at all, we wouldn't go. your situation is significantly more difficult tho - just one room available?!?! i sincerely hope your wl comes thru, or a bit of juggling works!

btw, i've never seen the holiday tag.....illuminations is my favorite (yes, i cry, and sing - quietly - along at the end:bitelip:). i think i'll go check out utube.....

good luck!

Woot! Woot! Changed our dates and got a HA BW view 1 bedroom for a week so DH can go! We might miss one of the birthday parties at home but we decided that life is too short and we aren't getting any younger so there might not be many more chances to celebrate the holidays with Mickey. Thanks for good wishes, everyone!
