Morning everyone,

We are planning a Spring Break trip to DLR in March with our three kids (DS9, DD6, and DD3 at the time we go). We've been to WDW a few times but this will be our first visit to DLR (and California, for that matter).

We're excited!!

My big questions are these: what's the weather like in mid-March (we live in a very hot and humid part of the US)? What about the crowds? We are definitely staying on-site, more than likely concierge (the lounge, snacks and drinks are really, really worth it based on our AKL experience), but haven't decided where.

Thanks for any information you can share :)

I went in February or January a few years ago out in CA and the weather was perfect. It was like spring out east.

Depending on when Easter falls next year, there is a potential for it to be very crowded. The two weeks prior to and following Easter are peak spring break season and park hours will reflect the crowds DLR is expecting.

The weather in March is normally gorgeous. 70's during the day, low 50's at night. I have run into rain before during that time, but I always enjoy the rain at DL.

We went in early March 06 and it was downright cold! And we are from SEattle, so we are used to cooler weather. We wore pants and sweatshirts during the day. In the evening we pretty much wore everything we could find! We were layered up- shirt, sweatshirt, coat- and wishing we had gloves and hats! But, I think it was unseasonably cold. They were having snow in the mountains near San Deigo that weekend, and that is pretty much unheard of.

March will be very busy. We've gone in March the last two years and have decided to give up going in March because of the spring break crowds and all the cheer conventions. It's just as crowded as summer days. But, we always seem to think it wont be (or shouldn't be), so then we are dissapointed. At least in the summer we already expect huge summer crowds and it doesn't get us down(strange, I know:rolleyes:).

The weather is usually very nice in March. We do dress in layers because it can be cool in the mornings and evenings. It also does sometimes rain in March, but just put on a poncho and go- we like DL in the rain!

Good Luck and Have Fun!

Is there a way to find out in advance when any of the "cheer conventions" are planned for? We are attempting an early March visit as well....but the thought of a million teenagers running around takes the thrill out of the planning. Uggh.

When exactly is your Spring Break in March, 2008? I notice that Easter falls on Sunday, March 23 next year so I imagine the 3rd and 4th week of March may be rather busy. We went the 3rd week of March in 2006 and the crowds were manageable. Of course the weekends were busy but the weekdays were not too bad. Weather wise the mornings and evenings were cool enough for jackets but it did get rather warm during the days. Only one of the evenings got really cold but it was also windy so that might have contributed to the cold. In fact the wind caused the fireworks to be canceled that night.

Scroll all the way down to nationals. It gives the 2008 dates. It looks like the last weekend in Feb and the first two in March. But, just also know that they usually come a day or two early and stay a day or two after to make a vacation out of it (and who can blame them:goodvibes:).

BTW- I am not involved with cheer at all, :cheer2: , HA! I just remembered this organizations name for some reason. But a warning, be afraid, very afraid:scared:

Easter completely slipped my mind. Our break is March 17-21 and we were hoping to travel Sat-Sat (16-22). If anything, we'd have to get back a day early to make sure we're up for the family duties on Sunday!

For days in the 70s and evenings in the 50s, I can take the crowds (even if we're overrun by :cheer2: ..ack!). It's so much easier when your young kids aren't melting right in front of your eyes. Our heat index will be above 100 today so that sounds heavenly.

Thanks again!

What I remember when we went in Feb was COLD.... I mean I put on shorts the first day coming from a tropic climate in hawaii to cali I figured it shouldnt be too much diff. I was WRONGGGGG. I froze my butt off right when I walked outside with dh to the coffee house inside the DLH. I had a hoodie on and shorts and dear god it was cold. Even DH was shocked. We had not planned for it to be that chilly and mainly brought shorts. I will say it wasa cold, and even more so in the evenings. I would prepare for a bit of cold unless you are from a very cold climate it might not be so bad, but while we were there it was cold even though children were in the pool we tried, but just couldnt do it. The temps might be finefor you.
