Looking to help a victim of the GA Floods

I am going through my kids' old toys and am trying to get rid of some. I was going to sell them but then the floods came through. If anyone knows of a family who has a small baby who lost their possessions in the flood, please let me know.

I would prefer they be in Cobb County or one of the metro counties as I am in Gwinnett and just don't want to go all the way down to Paulding or somewhere.

And if you're wondering why I'm not just taking it to a donation center...I am trying to make a personal donation versus just giving it to one of the centers because I want my kids to hand it over so they can see how they are helping some other child.

I know it's a long shot that anyone on here will know of someone in need, but it's worth a shot.

Thanks.

Actually if you were going to Paulding County, you'd be coming over not down, as we are on the other side of Cobb. :p Thankfully, I personally do not know anyone in need but I do want to thank you for your generosity though. Many people are suffering and I know there are some just down the street from me.

Can you pm me contact info? One of the people in a mom's group I belong to posted a request for help for a friend of hers who basically lost everything. Her husband is in Iraq, she has a 3 year old, and is due in December with their second. I'd love to forward your contact info to her if she wants it.

I live in Cobb County too. A local church in the Paulding/West Cobb area is the coordination site for all donations. Samaritan's Purse has set up a command center there, and all other area churches are sending supplies to this one central church to be distributed. I would give West Ridge Church a call to see if you can drop off the toys in person with your kids (just explain to them what you're trying to do). Their number is 770-222-2125. I hope that helps! :)

Oops, I forgot to add one more thing. If you'd prefer to drive to East Cobb County, then I work at a local church that is driving donations over to West Ridge in shifts. So if it would be easier to come here, you can. However, there wouldn't be any families here at the church for your kids to meet and see receive their toys. PM me if that works better for you.

I guess I'm thinking of whatever county Dallas is in. Truthfully, I was born and raised here but I don't do north 75 except when I frequented Cowboys! Maybe then if there's a family in Paulding that needs help they might meet me in Cobb (assuming they still have a car). It's just so horrible the destruction it caused to some folks.

Thanks. I will give them a call if nothing happens soon. I called a church the other day actually (not this one) and left a message trying to get more info and they never called me back! I guess they are just super busy.

Thanks for the help. I'll let you know if I need to drop it off in Cobb and let it "catch a shuttle"!
