Looking to buy.....where to start???

I am a US citizen (Florida born) that is living in Canada with my family. We are looking at purchasing a property near Disney because my Dad, brothers, sisters, etc all live in/near Orlando and because we feel that close to WDW would allow us to use it and also rent it if we wanted. Where do I start? Does anyone know if it is better if I buy as a US citizen or if my hubby should by as a Canadian citizen - tax implications, etc. We are starting the process now, we hope to own sometime by 2009.

We are looking at a 3 bedroom condo/townhouse in a gated community like Windsor Hills.

Start with a local realtor, get listings, sale prices, etc. You should also talk to a mortgage person and see about arranging finances in advance. See what your own personal financial situation involves....see what rates you can get, what you can afford, etc. If you have a financial planner they may be able to help you with the Can vs US question.

He will send you a list of properties for sale in various resorts, in various price ranges, etc, it will help if you have an idea of which resort, style of home, size of home, etc you're looking for to narrow it down though, there's a ton to choose from. The good news though, it's a buyers market right now, we think it's a great time to buy there, prices are down, it's like buying on sale! (Just don't plan on selling in the next year or two though).
