Looking forward to the smell of Disney water!!!!

Hi everyone!

My trip won't be for another year, but I need to start planning now! I'll be deployed for a while, but my husband, who is most definitely not a Disney nerd, wants nothing to do with the planning, so I need to get everything rolling before I leave. Due to my crazy schedule, we can't make any kind of reservations until 2-4 weeks out. Therefore, I have a tentative schedule and backups for everything!

A little background; my husband and I have been married for a bit less than a year, but never managed to take a honeymoon. My family and I went to Disney almost every year growing up, whereas he didn't go until I took him 2 years ago. I'm a Type-A planner, and he just wants to go with the flow and be surprised. We used to live in Daytona Beach, so we made a few one day trips over there, but have never stayed on property together. I've stayed at the Boardwalk and several off-property hotels with my parents.

Since I'll be coming back from my first deployment, we're looking forward to a romantic and fun vacation. With any luck, this will all happen in late January/early February of next year. My first choice hotel is Shades of Green, followed by POR and then POFQ. I'm hoping that since we'll be going in the off-season, I'll be able to get last minute reservations.

My favorite Disney rides are Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain, Maelstrom, and Living with the Land. I know I may be crazy, but I'm convinced Disney water rides have a distinct aroma, and they all induce such nostalgia!

Who else is along for the ride??

So, I have my list of must-do restaurants already. I've never eaten at any of the resorts, so I'm excited about trying some this time! I'm planning on:
Biergarten
Les Chefs de France
Kona
Ohana
Akershus
Hollywood and Vine
Narcoossee's OR Citricos

I'm looking for a romantic dinner one night; would Narcoossee's or Citricos be better for that?

I totally agree with you, Disney water rides have a different smell them. I think Florida smells different than anywhere else (in a good way)

I have never eaten at Narcoossee or Citrico so I can't answer that but I bet you can't go wrong with either one.

I have eaten at Biergarten, Askershus and Ohana and they are all delicious! They are all on our list to eat at on our trip, I can't wait!!

Looking at pictures, I love how Narcoossee's on the lake, plus my husband loves seafood, so I think I'll go with that over Citricos!

One day is our spa/golf day- he'll head over to either the Magnolia or Palm, and I'll wander over to the spa at the GF! Hopefully I can get an ADR at Narcoossee's for later that night so we can see Wishes at dinner.

We're also going to "sip" around the World one day; after an extended deployment, I think my alcohol limits are going to be significantly less than when I graduated college lol. We may do that on the same day we do Biergarten, so at least I'll have lots of food in my stomach!

If we can time it right, we may overlap with my family's annual trip to the World, which would consist of my parents (both 50-ish), my brothers (17 and 13, and maybe the 20 year old), and my sisters (9 and 8). I'd love to send my sisters to BBB and my brothers to DisneyQuest for the birthdays/Christmas that I'll miss this year, but we'll see!

So, with my schedule, it looks like I may have to push the trip back to late February/early March, which will have significantly more crowds. This just means more time to plan and change my ADR's over and over again though, right?
