Thinking of going to this place for a lunch. What are your experiences? What type of food do they serve? Pros and cons?

it's "American" style food, meaning you start with a salad w/ strawberry vinegrette dressing (yummy!), then they bring out a platter of turkey, flank steak and ham, along with bowls of potatoes, green beans and mac n' cheese. We also had dessert whick I cannot remember.

Some say it's like having Stouffer's out of a box, but I enjoyed the meal as did my family. I don't know if the lunch is different, but we found the character interaction to be great and we really enjoyed the relaxed pace while there.

We did the character dinner and I really enjoyed it. The salad dressing was delicious as were the rolls and butter. I love turkey and thought it was very good as was the stuffing. My kids liked the mac n cheese of course. Dessert was an apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream- yum. I am definitiely making an ADR for our upcoming trip.

Homestyle cooking, comfort food, wonderful crabcakes. LTT for lunch is outstanding.

Here are a few things to remember when eating lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern:

1. It is NOT a Character Meal (only dinner is).

2. It is not a Family Style Meal. Each person orders their meal off the menu.

3. Rolls and butter are not provided unless specifically requested.

4. If the waitresss asks if you would like a salad or soup, these things are at an additional cost. The way we were asked, we thought they were included with your meal but we were charged for each of these.

5. This is a great place to eat. We eat lunch here every year. :flower:

I eat at LTT for Lunch every trip, love it. I like that you can order off the menu for lunch. Last time I ate lunch there was in April, I had a great lunch and it was fast for a TS meal. 5 minutes for a table (with ADR) and about 7 minutes to get my food after I ordered. We were in and out in under an hour.
I had the Turkey dinner w/ mashed potatoes and stuffing and a pound cake with carmel sauce for dessert.
Yummy :earboy2: I couldn't eat for the rest of the day.

We always eat there for "dinner", but we take the first seating and combine it with lunch--usually having a late breakfast and a snack much later (8 pm-ish). It is my DH's favorite in all of WDW, the food is fantastic (truly, only the mac-n-cheese is stouffers), the service is pretty good, and the best character interaction we ever get.

I'm a big fan of lunch at LTT. The Tri Corner Hat sandwich is great. It's a lovely restaurant with a nice quiet atmosphere at lunch (never been to the character dinner, but I'd guess it's probably a little more hectice). You'll enjoy the break from the hustle and bustle.

DH and I had lunch there last year or the year before and thought it was outstandingly mediocre. :earsgirl: However, it generally gets good reviews on the DISboards.

So only dinner is served family style? Lunch is off a lunch menu?

Good to hear! I have a ressie here at noontime after the EMH morning at MK. I figure we'll be hot and tired, so a nice relaxing lunch will bring us around!

Lunch is just your usual sit down order of the menu kinda thing.. no characters, no family style.

but .. we love it! We almost always eat our MK lunch meal there. They make a very good cheeseburger. We love the turkey dinner and the pot roast, too. We usually go around 2 and it is a nice relaxing meal. The parade passes right out front, so you can finishing eating and stroll out to watch.

We're going to LTT for the char. dinner in Oct!
It'll be just a few short days from my younger DSs b-day. We're not having any parties for him this year because of his ASD so we decided that the weekend at WDW will be his celebration. When I made my ADR for LTT I arranged for a little b-day cake to be served at the end of the meal! Oh I can't wait!!!
My little guy will be thrilled, first he's gonna get to meet more Disney folks and he's WILD about them, and then there's gonna be mac-n-cheese which he thinks is his life-blood, and then cake! Oh it promises to be special!!!

This all sounds good. & Cool to be finished just as Parade passes!!!

LTT has been a favourite since I was a kid. It's so nice to get out of the heat midday for a nice meal.

DH and I both like the "homestlye" food his favourite is the Pot Roast.

We had lunch Feb 05 at LTT and enjoyed it very much. I had the Crabcake and Declaration salad w/ strawberry vinaigrette; DH had soup of the day and the Tri-Corner; DS's (4yo twins) split a child's cheeseburger, which came with fries, orange slice and red grapes (not mentioned on menu - garnish?). Except for the sandwich, I thought prices were comparable to OFF site restaurants or rest. chains in our hometown. That said, the sandwich was huge and could have been shared. Quality of all food was v. good.

Much to my pleasant surprise, the crabcake ranked as one of the best I've had, nothing too fancy, but lots of crab and just the right seasoning (not too much 'filler' or weird herbs - Yechhh! I like to sample crabcake when it's on the menu wherever I go). The salad was very fresh. DH said soup (I think some type of veg) was homemade and he enjoyed his overstuffed sandwich. Kids hamburger was tasty (i had to have a bite!). Fries were hot and crispy; grapes were sweet and fresh (i saved in a baggie and ate for snack later!)

We will definitely go for lunch again!

We eat at the Liberty Tree every time we go to Disney. We love it. Usually do dinner though. Dinner has the characters. Excellent family style meal for dinner. Great apple butter for the fresh bread and rolls. And the atmosphere is very homey/cozy. Nice cool, comfortable place to eat and get away from the crowds and heat. Definitely try it.

LTT is our last lunch before we head home for every trip. We love their lunch menu. My favorite is the pot roast. It's the best pot roast in all of WDW. Beats the pants off of the stuff at Rainforest Cafe in AK and Prime Time Cafe. Good old mashed potatoes, brown gravy with carrots, onions, mushrooms. My husband usually gets the Pilgrims Feast (turkey dinner) and our son usually gets the fried cheese.

We always try to save room for dessert (because the cobbler is great), but it's so hard not to get filled up on the rolls and honey butter and the main course.
