Finally got debt under control. We do have a mortgage, 2 car payments, and 2 prepaid college tuition plans I am paying on. The college will be paid for by the end of the year, and the cars by the middle to end of next year. Everything is on schedule to be paid within 6 years, including the mortgage. Here is my problem. I am retired, with an income monthly that shouldn't change (NOT social security--I'm too young
). Hubby is 42 and eligible for retirement at 50. At that time my stepson will be in college and dd will be in high school. He has a mandatory retirement age of 55. At that time dd will be in college and she wants to be a vet, so you know how many years that will take
. We max out his 401K at $15000 every year, however he can't withdraw from that without penelty until age 59 and 1/2.
So I am looking for some good investment websites to help learn how to ease those years between retirement and pulling from the 401K and social security years (age might be 80 by that time if there is even any available). We will both receive a pension, but I notice when we are home together we spend more than when he works. Also kids in college. I did invest about 10 years ago in some well known name funds. Basically all of my money went to zero.....
So I stopped contributing. I am nervous about investing but know I need to. Even my husbands 401K makes me nervous. I am not a gambler.
