I am overwhelmed with all the vacation homes available. Can anyone recommend one they stayed in that was close to Disney, with reasonable rates and nice accommodations. Need 3 bedrooms with pool. We would like to go the first week in February. Thanks for any suggestions.

I have moved this to the Orlando Hotels and Attractions Board which I feel is where you would get the best response.

But Welcome to the DIS :)

I would recommend looking at hotelkingdom.com and specifically keep an eye out for Cypress Point Resort. They have three bedroom units at a real good price. In April, we can get a place for 92/night.

I've personally stayed at Windsor Palms - a relatively new gated community with pool homes, townhomes and condos.

I've also stayed in Lindfields - a mixed-use community of pool homes (some rentals, some full-time residents). That is an older more established neighborhood a little further down 192 but still not too far from Disney.

I'd recommend either of those. WP is newer and closer so I guess I'd pick that one first.

When we rented 2 different homes in 2003 (fall) we used orlandovillas.com with much success.

Go with the rental home. We are a family of 5 and WDW has made it harder for us to stay onsite by only allowing 4 people to a room. We started to rent houses and we'll never go back. It's so much more convienent to have the extra room, your own private pool and a kithcen, fridge to store plenty of food to save money. One sight you might want to check out is www.VRBO.com there are hundreds of homes in the WDW area and all of these are listed by the owner. You deal directly with the owner and sometimes save substantially over one of the rental companies. Here is alink to locations of some of the subdivisions were the homes are.http://www.1stfororlando.com/Location-map.htm

I would say Oak Island and Formosa Gardens are some of the Biggest and most Beautiful homes you can rent and they range from 4 bedroom to 8 bedrooms. Oak Island, Formosa Gardens, Indian Ridge and Indian Ridge Oak are only 5 min. to the WDW gates and theres plenty of shopping areas on 192.
