Our family is going to the beach the week of July 4th down near Miami. And since Disney World is pretty much the halfway mark between our house and our beach destination, we might as well take a little mini-vacay to see The Mouse on our way home, right?

My husband and I have discussed leaving our beach spot Saturday, July 5, checking in at WDW and then going to the Magic Kingdom on Sunday, July 6 with our kids who are 5 and 3.

I am looking for anyone who has experience with going near or right after July 4th. Is it going to be completely and utterly insanely crazy? Is this doable? We went in June when it was pretty hot and pretty crowded, so I can deal with that. How much worse will it be the week of the fourth?

Any thoughts or pieces of advice will be gladly accepted. Thanks!

It will be absolutely crazy busy. However, it probably will not be closed due to capacity on Sunday like it will be Friday.

Thanks!

Any other thoughts? Any one actually been that week that can share personal experience?

With the holiday on Fri it will be a 4 day weekend for folks and the parks will be crowded and HOT!!!

The first day I was ever at MK was 7/4/10. We were there the whole week. Honestly I don't remember it being so insanely busy. I just remember having a ton of fun. Now for wait times I remember Splash was 80 minutes, Thunder was 80 minutes, Peter Pan was 90, Space was 90, etc. So it is busy, but it felt less crowded than my experiences at Disneyland.

Busy but it's totally doable. Just try your best to hit rope drop!

Thanks, DVCcurious! This is what I wanted to hear--crowded but doable. ;)

Those waits are honestly pretty comparable to what we saw in June--well over an hour waits for rides in the afternoon when the crowd has arrived. Rope drop is the name of our game at Disney, so hopefully that wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks again!
