Looking for Suggestions on this Please! One night - what to do?

We are booked Dec 9 Miami 5 Night Magic cruise. Get back on 14th.
Renting a car to drive to Orlando.
I have a free dining package at Pop booked starting on the 15th (had booked this before when we were going to cruise on Fantasy 8-15th but changed cruises).

I can't get my stay extended at Pop for the 14th.

Any ideas for us?

Is there anywhere worth going for one night prior to heading to Disney? Somewhere between Miami and Disney?
I would guess we would be on the road by 8 or 9am - so we could stay somewhere half way?

Or ??????

Just the two of you, for one night? How about a splurge for a night at, say Polynesian resort, or one of the other "we couldn't afford to stay there" places.

It's only about 4 hours Miami to WDW, not really worth stopping halfway.

I don't know how much time you've spent in Florida but if you want to explore a bit you could "take the long way". Leave Miami, head west on I-75 across Alligator Alley ( do an airboat tour in the Everglades if you are so inclined), then follow 75 north through some wonderful gulf coast towns....Naples, Ft. Myers, Sanibel Island, Venice, Sarasota, up to Tampa. Do some research and see where you might want to explore more and spend the night there. My favorite is Venice (on the island - get off 75 onto Tamiami Trail to downtown). Then take I-4 east to Orlando the next morning.
