I received a call at work last night from my sister saying she had found my father unconcious and he was being rushed to the hospital. They feared he had a major stroke. After finally getting to him at the hospital, we found out it wasn't a stroke(thank God) it was his diabetes. His blood sugar was 20. He was in a diabetic coma. He came out of it eventually but his blood sugar keeps dropping really low. They also discovered through blood tests that there is some heart damage, implying he may have had a heart attack. We had him transferred into Boston to one of the best cardiac units. He will be there for the weekend at least while they run more tests and hopefully get his blood sugar under control. Any thoughts and prayers that you can offfer would be welcome. *Also, as a reminder to anyone with elderly parents or neighbors-Please get to know there habits. My sister called my dad and when he didn't answer she waited an hour and called again. She followed her instincts that somethng was wrong and went to his house. When she noticed that his shades weren't down(he puts his shades down everyday by 5:00)she knew something was really wrong. Thank God she had her BF with her and he broke down the door, which was locked and we didn't have a key. We will be replacing his door today and you can bet that there will be several keys made and we will have one.
