Has anyone stayed at the Poly patios? How are they? I am confused as to which pool they are located. We are staying in Hawaii so we will probably prefer the pool closest to us. Which brings me to another question, are both pools equally crowded?

Thanks!!

The Poly Poolside Patios are at the Oasis Pool which is the secondary/leisure pool. There are no patios/cabanas at the Lava Pool, which is the main feature pool with the slide.

The Lava Pool is more crowded as it's "popular" given the slide, kids splash area, it's where the pool games are, etc.

The Oasis Pool is more relaxing but still fills in depending on the time of year. There can be times when it's pretty crowded as well, relatively speaking. The Oasis Bar/Grill is great and my preferred spot for a drink/lunch on a resort day. There are no lifeguards at the Oasis Pool. Also, the hotub is materially larger here than the one at the Lava Pool.

Both pools are equal distance from Poly CL/Hawaii.

Here are some pics of the Patios:

Also, @TJA and @Ferrentinos just rented one recently... they might can help with reviews of the experience. Sadly, I can't keep my kids away from the Lava Pool so the patios here don't make much sense for us at the moment. :-)

My DDs are 14. One likes slides. The other doesn't. Are the pools far apart? If we get a poolside patio and DH and DD1 go to the slides for awhile, is it much of a hike for them to return to Oasis to take a break?

No... SUPER close. Like a 30 second walk if that. That's one of the reasons we love Poly (and love Poly CL)... both pools are great and very convenient - just steps away. So easy to pop back in the room if needed as well.

We have considered booking one and using it as a 'home base' between both pools, actually wish I had done that on 7/4 when I was just there!

We just rented one over the 4th of July week and LOVED it! It's so casual and not very expensive. We actually did use it as our "home base" as GADisneyDad mentioned above. We always had at least one of us stay at the cabana to watch our stuff, but the other 3 of us could come and go as we pleased since everything was so close. We went to the lounge frequently for drinks and snacks. Switched things up between the pools too. My girls love the slide (also age 14 twins!), so they wandered back and forth. It's super close as mentioned above. One of my DDs and I went for a run/jog while DH and my other DD stayed at the cabana pool. It was just really nice and relaxing. I almost wish I had rented one every day just so we could have a "spot." It's kind of frustrating trying to just find 2 chairs to share for the 4 of us.

Is there just one "lounger" per cabana? It's just the 2 of us and I suppose one of us could stretch out on the couch if that is all that's included but we both like to put our feet up!

Thanks for the pictures and info!

Yes, that was a bummer to us. My DD grabbed a lounger from the general part and brought it up to our cabana, but it really made it crowded. I think I'm going to add that to my feedback email.

I'm surprised at that as well. Although some earlier pictures didn't show ANY loungers. We'll probably grab an extra as well.

Thanks for the response!

Yeah, the one lounger was added somewhat recently, like within the last few months, so that in itself is new.

The one problem is these things just aren't that big and don't have any area "in front" to add loungers, like the cabanas you see at GF or CR. These are pretty much sitting right on the pool.

DW said we shouldn't get one because no place for her to get sun! LOL!

:-)

Can i ask , are you able to find loungers around the pool mid afternoon and i heard there is little to no shade is this right?

They look pretty "open"--is there any concern that random other guests will just walk up and sit down in the one you paid to rent?

Finding loungers at either pool can be hit or miss depending on the time of day. For various reasons the Poly pools do tend to fill in and at times, especially later in the day, and it can sometimes be hard to find a chair. This has never materially impacted our Poly trips, but you'll read people complain about this sometimes.

The no shade thing is also hit or miss. There are quite a few umbrellas around, but not enough to satisfy demand. They are pretty coveted and people don't want to give them up so squat all day.

Often if you go to the pool later in the day when all of the chairs/tables are full, you can find yourself in a minimal shade situation for sure. But, it does depend on the time of year, etc.

Just my perspective but hope that helps.

I've seen this asked about but haven't seen anyone complain about this happening, although I'm sure it can. There are "ropes" around three sides and the tables have a sign marked "Reserved for XXX Family" so it's pretty obvious that it's a reserved space if you are there. If a non-patio guest chose to claim one for their own, it would be obvious they are not playing nice. :-)

We rented one 7/3. We arrived about an hour after our full day reservation began (we had our only pandora fastpass over our two week trip that morning.) There was a family in the patio next to us. Mid day came and went and they were still there. We assumed they were also full day-er's as the family on the other side had packed and left and staff reset for the next family.

15 minutes later a family with a special needs son came and couldn't find their patio. Turns out, we were the only full day rental. The other family just stayed. When asked to move they didn't want to, made a fuss and thought because the other family hadn't shown up they could stay. Mind you the other family was only about 15 minutes past the start of their time.

We offered the family to join us until theirs was reset. And as a special education teacher, I couldn't help myself. They sat with us until theirs was ready. Their son had a blast and it was heartwarming to see him so happy. They eventually got to their patio...in time for a thunderstorm. :crazy2:

But I also saw a woman refuse to move from one later in the week. We were on our way out and never saw how that was resolved.
