If he is at the Swan, and you are at AKL - you will probably be jealous of his location. The Swan is right inthe heart of WDW. It shares free boat transporation with the BC/YC/Bwk - and is basically right between HS and Epcot. It is a short walk to either park. I think the resorts are beautiful - though I am also partial to the mood, decor, and dining of AKL.
I have stayed at the Swan many times, but not as much inthe last few years due to no
DDP there and no ME- you must provide transportation from the airport.
The dinner choices in that area are excellent and numerous. The one flaw in the dining is quick quality breakfast choices. We prefer the Swan over the Dolphin, but going all the way to Piccabu's for eggs is a bit of a hike. If you do walk over, you are rewarded with a Starbucks coffee refillable mug option, instead of the Nescafe swill they serve in the Disney refillable mugs. I'm not even a big fan of Starbucks, but it's WAY better than the Nescafe/creamer they serve in the Disney resorts. However, it would be nice if you could get quick eggs easier. (The buffet breakfast at the Swan is good, but we tend to QS breakfasts.)
There is the Boardwalk bakery -but it's a bakery. In the parks, there aren't fantastic options either. Piccabu's is good, it's just a bit of a walk from the Swan, which takes time. When we stay at the Swan, eating breakfast in the room (continental style) is an option (or partially eating breakfast in the room). There's no 'fridge' - but a 'mini bar'.
For dinner though you have a ton of great choices in that area. The whole area is very pretty at night. You can even eat at several places with no reservations!
Last, the beds at the Swan are very comfy, and have white bed covers.
