Have always stayed at disney properties but this time just going for 3 days/2nights and will not be doing the parks. Looking for nice hotel suggestions for our family of 5 (older teens) and need a place that has food options.

I guess the first thing to ask is "What is your definition of nice?" Elegant? Fun? Great pool? Other activities? Close to shopping? Also, how much space do you need? Are you looking for a traditional hotel option? Or 1-2 separate bedrooms - like a rental or timeshare? Finally what is your per night budget?

So much to chose from in Orlando - really need some info to help narrow things down a bit!

We would like to be somewhat in the Disney area as we plan to do cirque at Disney Springs and visit and eat at AKL. We would consider two hotel rooms if they could be close to each other, and would consider villa option as long as there are food options on the resort. I do think that with 3 older teens we need some space. We have done Disney deluxe in one room and have been fine. We would like to try to spend less than $500 or so a night.

I'd rent DVC points and do AKL. I'm pretty certain you'd be able to get two studios for less than $500 in total.

Wyndham Grand Bonnet Creek hotel. Large rooms and access to all the pools and activities of Bonnet Creek.

With non-Disney properties, rates can vary greatly. Even considering resort and parking fees, $500/night is a huge budget.

For example, if you wanted the convenience of walking to Cirque du Soleil, you could stay at the Hilton Buena Vista Palace. The following are prices for 2 adults and 3 kids (under 18) for a 1-bedroom suite in their Island Tower. It's 800 square feet with two queen beds in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room.

These are non-refundable rate, but the refundable/cancelable rate for that suite is $132. There's a $25/night resort fee. That makes the total including tax for two nights $353.25. (There's also a $10/night fee for self-parking, if used.)

The hotel has restaurants, but you can also easily walk to Earl of Sandwich, Wolfgang Puck Express, and Rainforest Cafe.

Great rates and the pool is really nice. Can't beat the location and the teens can walk to DS if they want to bowl, movies, whatever. I saw some pics of them recently and they looked really nice inside and awesome location to the brand new pool area.

Those buildings on the left and you can see DS behind it.
