We have gotten dd5 an Ipod touch for Christmas. I wanted to load a few apps to have it ready to go on Christmas morning for her. What do your 5-6 year old girls like?
Looking for educational ones as well as just for fun ones:goodvibes
Are there also books that you can get that the Ipod will read to her? I was thinking someone told me that.

My girls love almost all of the Toca Boca apps. The birthday party one is especially fun because it is single- or multi-player. The tea party one is similar but I think it is only iPad (it was, not sure if it still is). I would definitely suggest taking a look at their apps to see what you think your DD would like. The hair styling one is really fun too.

My DD6 also loves Cut the Rope and Temple Run and Where's My Water, but I don't necessarily think all kids would like those.

DD8 (just turned 8) loves the Videostar app but DD6 is not in to it as much. You use your own music on the iPod and the camera to make a music video

DD8 does swim team so I also pre-loaded her new iPod with some swimming apps. When I got my sister and iPod touch for her 21st birthday I got some apps related to her future career. So, if your DD has any special interests you can look for apps for that too.

One more thing, DD6 and DD8 are both getting iPods for Xmas and in addition to the apps, I set up iCloud accounts (for FaceTime and iMessage) and added contact information for me and DH and some other family members

Also, I think our elf on the shelf may have grabbed the iPods and taken a few self-portraits. You know, when she helped Santa box them up at the North Pole ;)

Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to go check those out:goodvibes Does anyone know about the books...if you can get books that the Ipod reads? Thanks

My 5 year old girl loves Where's My Water, the Lego Friends Dressing Game, and several of the American Girl games. She likes Cut the Rope. She likes It's A Small World, several Lego apps, and several Highlights apps. She likes the apps like make a cake, make an ice cream, make cupcakes, make jewelry, etc. She likes Measurement, Toddler Teaser, Tozzle, and the Starfall apps. She really has enjoyed so many things on the ipods, but these are some current favorites. She also LOVES to take pictures, make videos, and call her Nana on Facetime. Enjoy!

You asked about books....

I think Disney has some books available, but I find them to be pretty expensive. We have a Berenstein Bears Golden Rule book that we got a good deal on one time. My kids really enjoy mommy read books though. I just made a short video using my camera of myself reading their books. They can't see me, just the book and my hands turning the pages, and they hear my voice. I have done a handful of books and they are frequently watched! Free too. :)

My niece loved Tom the Talking Cat and Gina the Giraffe when she was around that age. My sister had them on her phone for her to play with.
