We will be doing the 7 night Southern Caribbean Cruise. My daughter wants to swim with dolphins, and the age limit is 8. She will be 2 months shy of 8, she is tall for her age and is a champion year-round swimmer here at home. I have no idea when we will take another cruise like this and since the Disney port adventures say they strictly enforce the age 8 requirement, I am hoping I can find a private excursion that can accommodate us. I am wondering if they actually check the passports at the swim encounter if you arrive privately. I don't want unhelpful flames for being a rule breaker, I am just looking for a dolphin swim for my daughter. Thank you!

I would think, if they take the trouble to indicate an age level, then they would check it. I know the DCL policy of holding to age restrictions has to do with insurance liability. Possibly the venue itself has those issues, also.

Of course, if you hide the fact that she's not yet 8, and go ahead and book her, and then something were to happen, it would be on you, not the venue.

Sorry, IMO, it's not worth the risk.

I don't know what port specifically you are going to, but yes, many times people book directly with the company to save money. The age restrictions are sometimes different than booking with Disney as well. Google the port name along with Dolphin swim or in Cruise critic, under ports you will be able to see who others have used and how they liked it. Good luck and have fun. :)

I should have mentioned, sorry! This will be in St. Kitts. I found something called "Shoretrips" online which looks like it may have the same dolphin location that Disney is going to, their prices are about the same and it lists the age as 6. I am going to try them. I wish that we could do the Disney Thanks!

I wish that we could do the Disney, also, because I didn't really want to take a taxi for this excursion by ourselves, as it is just myself and my daughter, but we may not have a choice. Thanks!
Also, be aware that in some ports excursion companies have exclusive contracts with cruise lines. If you try to book privately with one of these companies, they won't do it if they know you are on the cruise ship.
