Thinking this is our best option for a dining package for World of Color but it would be great to see some pictures. We are big meat and potato people. How is the steak there? Is the dessert, lava cake, similar to that of like a Chili's?

If there are already pictures can you forward me the link?

Thanks!

I might have a picture of the food from one of my visits there, but I'll have to go through and check since the food would be in the background of the photo with me and one of the princesses.

As for the food, I love the Santa Maria tri-tip. It may be my favorite meal on property. IMO, Ariel's Grotto has the best food of all the character meals I've done in both WDW and Disneyland. Not another character meal is even close for food quality. Admittedly, I've only had the tri-tip, but I also love the cheddar herb mashed potatoes that come with it. On one occasion I was making a reservation there and the CM wondered why I wanted a Princess character meal. I replied that the tri-tip was that good. The tri-tip is the reason why I keep going back.

Over time I've come to really like the desserts there more and more. The cookie bars are good, the lava cake is good, and the brownie with marshmellows on top is my absolute favorite dessert at Ariel's.

I took pictures of the food at AG, but I will post it later tonight when I get back to sac. The appetizer and entrees look ok, but the dessert looked like a piece of art.

Just curious, where has our food porn thread gone? Haven't seen it in a while.

I'll bet it's buried under all the WOC frenzy. :guilty:

We just booked our Ariels Grotto, WOC dinner package! Would love to see some food pictures!
I went in September for breakfast for my birthday and it was a great start to the best birthday :)!

Our party had two meat and potatoes people for our princess lunch (shortly before the WoC crowd) just Saturday. I found the tri-tip to be very good, with just a little kick (maybe from the salsa?). The other person in our party who ordered it cannot tolerate what she considers "spicy" food (she's fine with a Mexican pizza from Taco Bell) and she thought it was good. Potatoes were also good. I didn't really eat the zucchini and squash, though they were OK.

I personally found the tri-tip (and the overall meal) to be just SLIGHTLY better than Wine Country Trattoria's World of Color package, and the photo I saw of the dessert for Ariel's WoC package appears to be head, shoulder, and fin above WCT's. Portions are more generous at Ariel's too. The only advantage I can see to WCT is that seating starts at 4 (instead of 5 for Ariel's)...but our service was so leisurely at WCT that I think the 5 PM Ariel's folks would have gotten out about the same time we did.

Here are my food porns from Ariel's Grotto - World of Color

We really like the antipasti tower with the selection of different variety of food. The entree was nice, but when I ordered the Tri-tip, I thought I was going to ask them that I want it medium rare, but they did not ask how I want it done. When they brought it out, it was medium well. It still okay to me, but it almost looked like they cooked it well before I even ordered it. Desssert was a really beautiful piece of art with the white chocolate world of color film strip that I did not want to eat it. The dessert was great.

The experience eating at Ariel's Groto was great, but I wish the food was a little bit better, but it was great quality. Luckily we got to do the 5 pm dinner reservation so we had enough time to get at the blockade and get ready for our viewing area for the 9 pm WoC.

I changed our dinner package from WCT to AG yesterday after reading some of the early reviews. When I called, the CM I spoke to hadn't heard that WCT wasn't providing the appetizer. He checked with a manager and sure enough they changed their menu but of course not the price! Looking at these pictures, I am glad I made the change.

I see that the appetizer and dessert towers are actually different from the one's served on the regular menu then!! Looks very good! I cannot wait!! As for the tri-tip, they did ask us how we wanted it done and we all ordered med. rare! It came out perfect..still pink in the center and literally just melted in your mouth! My neices still rave about the tri-tip they ate at Ariel's!!

Is it just me or does none of that food look too appetizing?! Maybe it's just that it's still breakfast time here. :) The desserts are very pretty!
My favorite AG dish was the salmon BLT, but it sounds like that is no longer even on their regular menu. Such a shame!

Here is the tower we had in Sept 2009.

That is what the tower looked like the last 2 times we ate at AG in April 2010 and October 2009. Apparently, they have changed the tower for the WOC dinner hopefully it's better than what it used to be. The meals at least the tri tip looks the same, and the dessert is a little different. The only thing that we have enjoyed at AG in the past was the dessert.

The CM I spoke with today said you do not get bread at AG only WCT with the WOC plan. Not sure if that is true or not? But he seemed pretty sure

When I had dinner at AG, we had bread at the beginning before the appetizer.

Here is my pic of the bread at AG

It looks good. I hope they still have it by the time I go in Aug. Who knows what changes will take place between now and then.
