I used to snorkel quite a bit. However, it has been many years since I've done much of it. My mask and snorkel have since cracked and been thrown away. I paid a large sum of money way back 15+ years ago at a dive shop. Now I am looking again for 2 sets for me and my daughter. Wow. What a difference in what is offered now.

Honestly I hate water in my face and in my mouth. I'm looking for the best dry snorkel for the price. I am so confused and hate to pay for something that once we get there won't work like they promise. DD doesn't really care. She is a fish and will snort water out of her nose. Also while not as important as working correctly I prefer the mask not to be that black where when I'm underwater I become claustrophobic. Something nice and clear would be great. Anyone point me in the right direction?

Ah the things a mommy will do for her baby....I'm too old for this stuff. We heading to the Keys for a few days. Oh yeah baby is 14....LOL.

well "good" dive stuff is expensive, but if its just a few day trip and you want decent sets, the sporting good stores do have them , as does Costco...Like everything else, you get what you pay for it............Good luck and have a nice trip!

Love Snorkel Bob's online. They even carry slightly used and prescription versions. Our stuff was excellent!

If this is not something you plan on doing all that often, dive shops will usually rent you equipment. That way you can have high quality stuff without paying a fortune.

If it is something you plan on doing frequently I would go ahead and get the good stuff from the dive shop. My mask that is a perfect fit for my face cost me $60 but I have used it 20+ times so it has more than paid for itself IMO.

I ordered one for my son a couple years ago and I really wasn't sure what I was doing. I was particularly concerned about the fins. I got THE BEST customer service from SurfandDirt.com. The emailed back and forth with me a couple of times before I placed my order and gave me a really low price. I couldn't have been more pleased!

Best of luck with your search!

I'm a snorkeler and I would not buy cheap equipment and expect it to keep a seal. I'd want to try mine on or at least handle it prior to purchase to check for rough spots, feel of the rubber/plastic, placement and workability of strap/adjustment.
