We have out health insurance through my husbands work but we don't really like it much. Our contribution is pretty high for what we get. I'm curious to see what's out there that we can get on our own instead.

What do you have, how do you like it and is it very expensive?

Individual plans, GENERALLY, run about the same as what you pay through a group plan (50% of the group plan cost). The major difference between a group plan and an individual plan is the maternity coverage. There is typically an 18-24 month waiting period before they cover maternity costs. Also, deductibles can be a lot higher. There are some individual plans that give you XXX dollars or xxx visits before you have to pay a deductible. Those are great if you don't go to the dr much. Health Partners has one in our state called 3 for Free-you get 3 dr appts paid for before you have to pay a deductible.

With the individual plan if you have prexisting conditions they can rate you for that or deny you coverage so keep that in mind.
