That's the same time of year I'm going and the deals are few and far between because it IS a hot time of the year...

Check with www.hotelkingdom.com quickly because they are selling out like mad.

Go to www.holiday-inn.com/freenight and see if they have any BOGO sales. I just booked the Holiday Inn Universal for 12/29 and 12/30 for $129 for both days.

I would avoid the Days Inns... they've gotten some really bad reviews across the line.

We recently got back from the Days Suites (next to and co-owned with the Days Inn). Its a perfectly nice place to stay. I would also check Hotel Kingdom. Another place we've stayed cheaply and been pleased with is the EconoLodge Maingate Hawaiian which is on 192 East of I-4.

I would do a search on the hotels you're asking about and to check the Best/Worst Hotels thread posted on the top of the page. It will give you an idea of what other travellers felt about the hotels they've stayed at in Orlando.

Please note that $45 can get you a 3 star hotel in Orlando on Priceline, instead of a 1 star rack rate. You might consider that. Check with www.biddingfortravel.com for information on bidding for hotels in Orlando.

Karim,
I second Robin's advice to try Priceline (if you aren't tied to getting a specfic hotel) and looking over the bidding info on the Biddingfortravel.com website. We used Priceline to get a hotel for about the same timeframe you are looking for (12/29 - 1/2) and we were lucky enough to get the WDW Dolphin for $75 per night when bidding on a resort level hotel in the WDW area. Of course, there is no guarantee that the same bid will get you the Dolphin now, since Priceline inventory is always changing and you could end up with the Hilton or Marriott Orlando World Center (which is almost as nice as the Dolphin but about 1 mile from the WDW entrance) or nothing at all for the same bid/dates. As Robin said, a $45 bid (or even less) could get you a nice 3 star hotel near WDW. FYI, the Days Inn Maingate East is rated as a 2 star hotel by Priceline according to Biddingfortravel.com.
Good luck, whatever you decide to do.

If you are looking for inexpensive and clean...Magic Castle Inn and Suites is really nice.

We paid $33 a night for a king suite and it had a microwave and a fridge. We thought it was a good deal and it was clean. We were at Magic Kingdom in 15 minutes.

I can send you pics of it when I get home on the 10th. I'm at my folks right now.
