Doing a split stay and never leave Disney due to DVC. We are short on points this year so looking to stay near Universal. Looking for a decent place no more than $150 a night. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Honestly look into the Endless Summer resorts at Universal. They are not as close to the parks as the others, but still include transportation to Universal and I enjoyed them. They are going to be as cheap as any "off property" place you find.

Prices are going to vary significantly depending on when you go.

First, i'd suggest any of the Universal hotels if you can find one in your price range. They are all nice.

Off property, we have stayed several times at the Drury Inn near Universal, where you get a free breakfast and a "kickback" meal with free drinks that can save some cash on eating out if you can take advantage.

We always have a car, but if you want to Uber it's less than 2 miles from Universal.

We stayed at Homewood Suites a couple years ago. It was closer to Sea World, but pretty close to Universal also.

We recently stayed at the Best Western next to the Dockside. The hotel was very clean ( I could smell the bleach ) .. .
Also try for AAA discount or teachers , etc…
We liked this location because we could walk over to the Dockside to use the Universal Bus to CityWalk .
Nobody said anything that it was not allowed …I have stayed many times at Dockside and know that nobody is checking . Plus you can just walk into the resort to get a drink at the Starbucks, etc.
I really like the Dockside dining selection and also they have a Bar,inside and outside by their pool.
Dosckside is very reasonable price butBest W is cheaper.
Good luck

what did you think of it? I'm looking at this hotel for next year.
We liked it and would stay again. The breakfast was pretty much the same as every other budget place; scrambled eggs, sausage patties, potatoes, waffle maker. But it was always hot, everything was kept very clean and the pool area was decent enough. It was walking distance to Sea World which was a bonus for us since we went there ding to universal.
