DD12 wants to get an iPod Touch for Christmas. Our budget has taken quite a hit recently due to some large, unplanned but necessary expenses. I was quite prepared to buy the 8G which is better suited to my budget, but my husband is insisting that we should buy a 16G or better. Any ideas where I might find one at a good price? DD is not insisting on the newest model and I'd rather buy her an old model 16G, than buy her the latest 8G version.

I'm eyeing a refurb on Apple's site, but I'm still wondering if there are other deals to be considered

Thanks in advance for your help

I would check amazon.com cowboom.com it a best buy company and safe. I should stay off slickdeals enough. That how found about cowboom.com. Overstock.com and believe not walmart.com to.

I have seen the 16gb on overstock.com for $199 (cant remember if it is 2nd or 3rd gen and I believe it is a refurb).....I think the 32gb 3rd gen refurb on apple.com for $229 is a better value.

Just an FYI OP in case you were considering Overstock. I purchased a refurb ipod touch for my dd there but it was all scratched up on the back. If that matters to you, just be aware that the case on the refurbs are not in new condition like the ones directly from Apple.

You can check some of you rlocal stores like Best Buy and Staples. They were clearanced out at them so chances of finding any are slim, but you never know.

Try Macmall.com. They usually have the best prices on a new Ipod. I would stay away from refurbs unless you are buying directly from Apple.

I second the apple.com refurb idea. I have gotten two ipods that way. I have had them for years without any issues at all.

Plus, if you order from apple you can have them ingraved with name and contact info incase she loses it.

Im holding off until the holidays. Last year target and other box stores had gift cards with purchase of ipod touches on black friday. In fact toys r us is offering a twenty five dollar gift card with purchase this week. Since I dont shop toys r us Im going to pass on that deal. But if you wait then you can get the newest version and a bonus.

Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions

My suggestion would be to go with an Apple refurb.:thumbsup2

Our local bank is offering a free one with a checking account with direct deposit. I am not sure how many GB (probably 8), but free is good!

You're already on it. I was going to suggest the refurbs direct from Apple. Good deals to be had.

I decided to buy the 32G iPod from Amazon at $251. Thought about the 32G refurb at Apple at $229, but decided to spring the additional $22 to get a new one.

DD12 will be very happy. So will DD18, because she's constantly hunting down DD12 to retrieve her iPod Touch!
