Ugh. I thought she was one of the worst.

My favorites were Kate Hudson (and I usually don't think she looks that good), Jennifer Garner, Halley (sp?) Berry, Helen Mirren, and Kate Winslet.

It seemed like maybe Mickey Rourke's guest was a girlfriend?

REALLY????? Her hair looked like she didn't even know it was there -- hanging in her face, pulled back in a rubber band -- hideous! I couldn't even look at her dress, I was so appalled by her hair.

It's kind of ironic to me that Mariah's getting sliced and diced in the same thread where another poster is wowed by Halle Barry. Halle's a beautiful woman but IMO her outfit was the equivalent of Mariah's. Then again, I also found Jennifer Anniston's look a little, um, desperate might be the word I'm looking for?

I suspect the difference is that Berry is practically a picture of physical fitness, while Mariah Carey is less so. The pictures I saw from last night were side by side, and if you can turn your head away from the -- uh -- middle of each picture, and look at the arms you can see a big difference in terms of muscle tone.

I agree. Don't know what happened to Mariah. I think the worst thing she ever did was get the augmentation. She was a cute, fit young woman and then, she sort of "came out" a bit on the "Honey" video. She still looked great--more voluptuous bit fit and healthy looking. Then she just went over the top. The girls got MUCH bigger and so did she. There's nothing wrong with her size, IMO, but it's the way she chooses to showcase it. Just looks trashy.

Edited to add: I think if she put herself in one of those Kate Winslet dresses or whatever Kate Hudson was wearing, Mariah could be absolutely stunning. She's got a great, curvy figure but those are best covered up and then it looks wonderful. Halle Berry is much more petite and can get away with the more revealing look.

I didn't think Mariah looked as bad as everyone else seems to. Cleavage doesn't bother me... I just look at things differently. If seeing a man's chest is okay, I don't understand why a woman's is considered off-limits. Just one of those societal rules that I follow but don't really understand.

Anyway... I haven't had a chance to watch the red carpet yet (I taped it though!) but just from what I saw at the show and from pics online:

Random comments:

• Not sure why TMZ picked on Gabourey Sidibe. Her dress was pretty. It was raining. Duh.
• Mickey Rourke is unconventional. I like it. I thought his "and guest" looked fine and just as unconventional as he did.
• Kudos to Michael C Hall... for being well enough to show up! I don't watch Dexter but always get a knot in my stomach when I hear about younger people battling cancer.
• Calista looked pretty in the pic... she looked a little bit less so sitting at the ceremony.
• The filming at the ceremony itself was horrific.
• I thought Ricky Gervais was a jerk. Just sayin'.

I don't think so. While Halle's shows quite a bit of cleavage, her dress is prettier, classier, and she doesn't look like she's about to pop out of it.

I personally don't think that a man's bare or almost bare chest is appropriate at an occasion such as this either.

I think that some cleavage can looks sexy. Mariah Carey just looks poured into her dress because it's simply too tight. It's a wonder that she can breathe.

My personal opinion is that there are some women who can pull off a plunging neckline, those with cup size B, maybe a smaller C and under. I'm guessing Mariah doesn't fit into the category.

Yeah, I really don't understand poofy dresses at all. Does anyone think that they're attractive in any way? Maybe I'm too boring, but I think that clothing should either be revealing, because there is something worthwhile to reveal, as in Halle's case, and/or the dress itself should be worthwhile to reveal. Poofiness, to me, seems intended to highlight something -- saying "Look here!".

To put my earlier comments in context, I didn't see her sitting down, only standing up.
