Hi there-

We will be in Orlando, Feb 10th-18th. Currently booked for 8 nights at the Hard Rock. We are planning to visit DC, Sea World and Aquatica. I was planning to use the shuttle or taxi. We'd be going back and forth for the last 3 or 4 days. Started thinking that we could check out of HRH on Sat. the 14th and stay right near Sea World for the last 4 days. It should save a pretty penny too!

So...looking at the Renaissance Orlando Resort at SeaWorld. Looks like the location is perfect. Anyone have any experience with this place? Any way to get a good discount? I tried AAA and no rates are offered for my dates. I could try priceline, but there's a chance I'll get the Peabody, which looks nice too, but is a bit further away. From what I understand, you can walk from the Renaissance to Sea World. Not sure about DC or Aquatica.

Any other good places close?

Thanks for any info I can get!

Never stayed there but you can walk to Sea World from there. However, Aquatica would be a real hike. It's across the street on International Drive. Not really within walking distance at least not for us.

We weren't going to Sea World, so I'm not sure of the exact distance, but we stayed at the Residence Inn Sea World, which is not too far away. We were just there one night, but it was nice enough with a hearty free breakfast.

I'm always surprised when I hear that someone is using taxis in Orlando. Rental cars are SO cheap there that it would be hard to beat the cost, not to mention the convenience of having your own wheels.

I second the suggestion for Residence Inn Seaworld, they have a free breakfast, shuttle to SeaWorld and other attractions, and the rate I saw for your dates looked pretty good ($523.84 total for 1 br suite).

Thanks for the info. How did you get that rate to come up? I put in my dates (2/14-18) and this is what I got:

Summary of Room Charges Cost per night per room (USD)

* Saturday, February 14, 2009 - Wednesday, February 18, 2009
* (4 nights)

189.00
AAA Auto Association Rate. Includes hot breakfast buffet daily & high speed Internet access

* Estimated government taxes and fees

* 23.62

* Total for stay (per room)

* 850.50

I like your total better! Still, $850 for 4 nights is what I would pay for 2 nights at the HRH (although our HRH rate is for a king club room).

Well, my problem is solved. I used Priceline and got the Renaissance Orlando for $95/night. I'm pretty happy with that.

Thanks for the link! I read your report and your uni report. Both were great! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your trip report link. I have been throwing the idea of sea world back n forth in my head and think I have finally decided to go while we're at US.
