Long time no see! Anyone ever bring a pet on an Airmiles ticket?

Hello everyone! It's been a while, but when we start thinking Florida, I know this is the place to come to plan and chat. :)

I finally have almost enough airmiles to get us all to Orlando from Halifax. (10500 AM, not for the undetermined collector, at least out east where there is no points bonanza like Safeway...) Anyway, we want to bring our puppy, who is (and will be) small enough to travel in cabin with us. Apparently I call the airline *after* I've committed all my hard-earned AMs and book her directly, as an "add on". Anyone done this? I am just afraid they will say "no, sorry, we already have 19 dogs booked on this flight, we have no room for yours". We will be booking months ahead (because it's Airmiles), so this is unlikely, but still, I would feel better if anyone has done it, on any AM flight, not just a FL one.

One of the reasons we got the dog we did is that she's little enough to travel with us, as long as we stay in North America! We are looking at two weeks in August, because I can't bear to fly anywhere for just a week and the kids are too old to yank out of school now. Not even buying Disney tickets, but renting a villa that's so much nicer than our "real" home (!) and probably getting flexpasses for some quality Harry Potter and Aquatica time.

Anyway, I'm rambling as usual. Happy to be planning again! Please let me know if you've done the pet thing...
