Today was a great day! (Not to give anything away, but it ties with tomorrow night for Best Time at a Disney Theme Park).

We got to the MK just as it opened, something remarkable in and of itself. Pink eye symptoms, including the "pink" part, had receded, but alas, I was still in pain. I was also sunglass-less. The reason for this is that I didn't feel right trying them on, even though I had been assured by a nurse it was ok. Also, I get headaches from glasses that fit too tight on the head, so it would have been hard to find replacements anyway. I just wore one of my many hats--today it was a cowboy hat. Very sassy, if I do say so myself.

We went right to Space Mountain, where the wait posted was less than 10 minutes--it was even less than that. Woohoo. I told the CM I hated to sit in the back due to whiplash (it hurts!) and asked if we could wait until he could seat us anywhere else in the car. He obligingly sat us in the front of the very next car! I had been in the front in 2003, but DH never had. So I let him have the seat and he loved it! It was so fun to sit behind him and hear him laughing all the way through. I knew it was more exciting in the front of the car, and I was tickled he got the chance to try it too. Right before we took off, a CM came over and told me my restraint was broken, and for me to hang on as best as I could. He said it with a perfectly straight face, and had me for a minute.

After SM, we got fastpasses for SM again and headed for Buzz-- a first for both of us. We got right on. I think this ride is highly overrated. Maybe that is because I SUCK at it. Shawn was decent, and got Ranger 1st Class.

Next up, we rode the PeopleMover (TTA my as#, it will always be WedWay to me!). DH did not want to ride this but after my selflessness on SM, well, we were just going to ride it, that's all. DH changed his mind when we went into SM and he got some cool pics with the new camera.

DH is a man who has to have his breakfast, so by this time he was feeling pretty bad. I get the Bad DW of the Year Award, but I was distracted by the short lines. You would have done the same. No? I don't believe you. We went looking for food but could find none. I headed over to Fantasyland looking, but it was all closed still. We ended up eating at Cosmic Ray's. I had a great hotdog...oops, this is HARDLY the place for this. I will refer you now to the Restaurant Board, where there will be a review of this very same hotdog (and the interesting digestive sounds emanating from the condiments on the condiment station) in a few days. After brunch, DH just wanted to chill for a minute so I popped over to PPF to get some fastpasses.

While I headed over there, my cell rang. It was my pinkeye-drop-contributing coworker (not to be confused with my pinkeye-contributing coworker, who knew better than to call me) calling me from work.
Her: Hey!
Me: HEY!
Her: Where are you? What are you doing?
Me: Do you really want to know?
Her: Yes. Nooooo. Yes. Do I?
Me: I'm getting fastpasses for PPF!
Her: Kill me now.
Truly, she was happy for me. But I wished she could be there, too, as we are friends as well as coworkers. But I digress. Mission accomplished, I went back to retrieve DH so we could ride his favorite, HM!!

HM was a blast as usual. It just never gets old for me. The CM popped the door open in our faces & I screamed. Which is why they do that. It was fun to see DH's face light up like a kid's on this ride. We got stuck on it in the scene in which the ghosts are flying up to the roof--neat. We also liked the new Leota stone with the moving eyes. The store next to the HM with the spooky & villain-style souvies is a must-see, fyi. It's fun to hear the audio from the HM while you shop.

PPF was beautiful & fun as usual. We did get a lot of dirty looks from the standby line. Do they not know about FP? And is this our fault? I love the scene over London--it's worth it for that alone. Luckily for DH, Small World was down for upgrades!

We then headed to Adventureland, marking the funnel cake place for future reference. The Jungle Cruise had a 45 minute wait, can you believe it? Seriously? I got us FPs for Splash while DH took a rest as it's pretty much a given that I had more juice in me because we were at Disney! We lined up for POC, which said 15 minutes. That was a dam' dirty lie, and we were there for 45. Then we did the Jungle Cruise and had the worst guide ever. I'm sorry, but he was bad. It is always good to see the backside of water again, though.

At this point, we were able to get FPs for Thunder right before our FPs at Splash were up. I was wearing stone colored cargo shorts, my favorite shorts ever. They were long like bermudas, very forgiving. And you will find that once you pass 30, forgiving is a very good thing. My seat at Splash had a muddy footprint in it, so I pulled out my map to protect my adorable shorts (you may have already read this part--I posted a warning about it afterwards and got a tag out of it). We were in the front, and got drenched. Just so you know, I am not too terribly fond of this ride. The drop freaks me out. But it was fun. I guess. We get done, look at the pics and pass on ours, and head to the restroom. After doing my business, I checked out my butt to see how wet I got. And, folks, there was a map on my as#! The purple ink had bled into my shorts and I had Adventureland across one cheek. I was not embarassed, more like mad about the loss of my shorts. I knew I would never see those people again. Embarassment came about 5 minutes later, when DH said we should still keep our FPs for Thunder. Oh well, humility is good for a girl. That accomplished, we were hungry again.

People were cuing up for parades, something I never do, and neither does DH. Too many people, too close to us, scary! DH got a funnel cake and I got the famous tuna sandwich at Columbia Harbour House. Read the review, folks. Then we realized we were about to be trapped in the park during the parade, and one of us had a map on her pants. So we bulldozed thru the crowds (6'4" is a good thing in these situations. My bulldozing is much less intimidating) to Main Street. I scored some Chocolate Covered Honeycomb Candy at Main St. Confectionary, a big bonus as I had never seen it outside DL before! Woohoo! Back to the hotel for a nap!

That night, it was the new Extra Magic Hour at MGM. I was very excited about this, and DH was very good-natured about my excitement, but tired. (I don't know how I can walk for miles like that at Disney, I get shin splints in under 1/4 mile at home). We caught the boat from the Swan at 7 & it was jammed with like-minded women and tired DHs, not to mention riled-up kids. We picked up our wristys at the ticket counter and headed for RnRC--a first for DH and something I had barely scraped up the courage to ride in '03 but now LOVED. It had a 15 minute wait. DH LOVED it. Especially the take-off. Especially the loops. Especially that it was in the dark. Again with the laughing during the ride. It was so great, we got right back on. After that we were hungry, so DH grabbed a burger and I got a pizza and garden salad right next to where he got his burger. I know pizza at MGM gets a bad rap, but mine was good.

We then got on ToT, something Shawn was gung-ho about and I was trying not to wet myself in advance. But after all I had made him do, I couldn't back out of this. And, deep down, I wanted to be made to be brave. I have always been too scared to ride this. The line time sign read 13 minutes (ha!) but it was like 5. This ride is amazing looking. Even if you are too chicken, get in line if it's short just to see the hotel. I was very, very scared once we got on. I sat between DH and another guy. I felt sorry for him as he had no handhold on the side between us. I took it all up! I loved it! DH loved it! We got right back on. I was still scared until the first drop, but it is so worth it. We then did DH's second favorite ride, ST. I don't like asking for favors, but previous experience had told me that the back row in the middle is a completely different and vastly improved experience than anywhere else on the ride. So I asked the CM, and he moved us from row 2 to the back! And there was no one else on our row, so we sat in the middle. And DH got the experience he deserved.

By this time we were worn out, although invigorated with being in the park after others had to leave. The parks at night are even more special, IMO. We saw some special Disney cockroaches, though not animatronic. They weren't that special.

Tomorrow is MK late night!

Thank you! I love it that people actually take the time to tell me! It makes writing them that much more fun. Definitely good therapy for missing the World so bad. :goodvibes

Ha ha ha! What is with the ink on those maps? A similar thing happend to my cousin during one of our trips! It happened during Alien Encounter. My cousin Karen was scared so during the show she used the map to cover her face, well from her sweating and getting sprayed by the water from the alien, the ink transfered from the map to her face! Oh man it was soooo funny, when we were walking out of the attraction we finally saw her face in the daylight! :rotfl: We all started cracking up and she didn't believe us. She thought we were just picking on her, that is until a cast member walked up to her and confirmed that there was a map imprinted on her face!!@! :scared1: ha ha :rotfl2:
She totally ran straight to the bathroom to scrub it off....I got a photo of it before she ran off though, I'll have to post it for you guys!!!

Lesson learned from both experiences.....be careful of the maps!!!
