My hair is down to my butt. I've always had long hair, this being the longest ever.
I do wear it up most of the time though since it is a hazard when it's down.
This was me to a "T", but not when I was old...all through my 20's. I'd wear it down if we were going out, but I worked in child care and couldn't have my babies pulling on it all the time, so I ened up with it on top of my head most of the time. I had long, healthy hair and everyone was always wowed by it, but I did nothing with it since it wouldn't hold any treatment (curl or otherwise) that long since it was so thick and heavy.
I cut bangs for the first time in 15 years right before I had my DD, and I also cut the length to just past my shoulders. It took years off of me! In the face I look very young, but with a bun all the time, I just looked frumpy.
It had grown back out again, about midback, and I was just putting it up again and I was tired of "looking like a SAHM". I went to a good salon in town, told the stylist "I'm tired of looking like a SAHM. I want to look cute and kicky and sassy! Not SAHM-y! Do whatever you want to it, but it has to be easy to manage! And it must look good with my very ROUND face." She cut it so it's right at my shoulders when I have the ends curled out or under and there are some long layers to give it movement and I have a small amount of bangs, just enough to cover my big forehead. I've never looked better and never felt better, and I get compliments on it all the time.
My DH always loved my long hair, but he didn't love it up and that was how I wore it 95% of the time the last few years, so he was all for it when I said I was thinking of cutting it. I was "afraid" of short hair and bangs and basically anything I had to fix for so long that I just did nothing to it and looked frumpy. NO LONGER!! I trust my stylist and will absolutely CRY when we move from here next year!
Do what YOU want. Look how YOU want. Be comfortable with yourself. That's what's important.
