Our Cast:
DawnMaree: That would be me, the ultimate planner for our whole group. After this trip I think I still need to perfect my planning.
Rob: My husband. Not as gung-ho about Disney as I am but still was excited to go on this trip.
Evan: 4-year-old son, a.k.a. Papas boy. He is definitely a temperamental child who needs a lot of attention. We had some trying times with him this vacation.
Alec: 2½-year-old son. Daddys boy by day, Mommys boy by night.
Grandma: My mom. Very generous lady, my best friend. She was looking forward to relaxing by the pool (ha).
Papa G: My dad. This would be the official Papa of Evan. He is completely crazy for his grandsons and really would spend the entire time with them if he could.
Grammy: My mother-in-law. First time going to Disney World and really the first vacation of this kind of magnitude for her and Papa W.
Papa W: My father-in-law. He is not a very expressive person, just went along with what everyone else wanted. Grammy had to warn him ahead of time about how expensive Disney really was.
MGM Studios - Thursday, November 13th
I woke myself up at 5 a.m. coughing so bad. By 5:30 a.m. I decided to just get into the shower hoping the steam would help my coughing. It did a little bit. The rest of the clan was up by 7 a.m. and we slowly started to get ready for MGM. We mosied on over to good ole Ale & Compass for breakfast passing by about a million conventioneers from, I believe, Hewlett Packard. We finished up there and got packed up to go to MGM. Upon walking over to the ferry, there were probably a half million of those conventioneers going to the same place. Well, maybe not that many but we did have to wait for the 2nd ferry. I was a little fearful watching all the people entering MGM but once we were in the park it was dispersed rather nicely. Ran over to Tower of Terror. Only Papa G, Rob, me and Evan went on it. I had to buy Evan the I survived the Tower of Terror tee shirt. Just too cute.
Alec was eating a Mickey ice cream by that time. That was fine with me, early as it was, as I thought the cold would feel good on his throat (not knowing whether it hurt as much as mine did). By the time we finished the TOT and all met up it was 11:10 a.m. Our PS for Sci-Fi was at 11:05 a.m. so we booked our fannies right on over. No problemo. We were seated in side-by-side cars and guess who fell asleep again? If you guessed Alec, you would be correct, sir (or madam). The waitress messed up on Papa Gs order so she quickly rushed getting the correct one and brought free glow-in-the-dark frisbees for the boys. Nice way to make up for it because I told Papa G that the cost is $2.50 each extra for those meals. Not that its that much money but its still nice to get something for free, eh? Alec woke up by the end of our meal and we still ordered him some mac-n-cheese which he took a couple of bites of. At least we tried, remembering he had the Mickey ice cream earlier.
Rode the backlot tour. Evan saw Honey I shrunk the kids playground. I lied to him saying that it wasnt a playground because Alec was too small to enter it and I knew that was asking for trouble if Evan went in without him. Evan yelled back to me, It is too a playground. I saw it on tv! He was right. I made the mistake of showing him Rob & my honeymoon videos in which we took some video of it. We made a quick distraction to get away from it which worked, thankfully. We went over to Rockin Rollercoaster. This time only Papa G, Rob, and I went on. It was great. It was then 3:30 p.m. and we went over to get in line for Playhouse Disney, starting at 4 p.m. The boys really loved that show. I have a problem with how much you can actually see though. All anyone can see is the tops of most of the characters heads! The stage is way to high, even with the kids standing up to see most of the puppets. At least they loved it, though. Nearing dinnertime, we rode The Great Movie Ride and then headed over to 50s PrimeTime.
Aunt Sue was our waitress. She was pretty good. She fed the green beans to Papa W because he didnt finish them. I didnt eat any at all and tried to cover them up with my fried chicken skins. She noticed Robs plate was totally clean and showed the whole room how great he was and Mom would be proud. She then continued to show everyone my plate and made every say to me, Stop wasting Moms food! I think I turned a shade of red. Evan loved his PB&J sandwich and asked for another which I was only too happy to order for him. Alec ate most of his mac-n-cheese and then he started looking a little pale. Rob decided to take him out of the restaurant for some air. Not too much longer a hostess was asking table to table for a Dawn. I told her that was my name and she said that my son was getting sick outside. Oh no. I asked my parents if they could take Evan and pay for our meal, that I would pay them back later, and I rushed to the lobby area where they directed me through the bar door. Poor Alec had thrown up big time right outside the main door...and the sour smell. I felt bad for the diners coming in but felt worse for Alec who had it all over this shirt, some on his shorts, and on his new sneakers. It had even got on our new digital video camera. Rob took him into the mens room to clean up while I cleaned up the camera, got things packed up, and ran inside to tell everyone to just meet us back at the room later.
Alec seemed a lot better and I ran into a gift shop to buy him a new sweatshirt to change into. Then we headed back to the ferry. Everyone met up with us at the loading dock. Rob sat out back with Alec so the smell wouldnt offend anyone. Back to the room and called it a night. Tomorrow was our last full day. We planned on just Rob, I, and the boys at the MK while the grandparents did their own thing and to meet up at the Garden Grill for dinner...
