Hi were flying with virgin from Gatwick's South terminal for the first time. Last year we flew from the North terminal - and quite liked it - modern, lots, of shops and cafes, quiet etc.

Is the South terminal similar - I have read some bad reviews?

Were debating about booking a lounge instead - especially if there are improvement works going on?

last time we went form the north it was not as good as the south but this was years ago

We flew to MCO with BA from the North Terminal and loved it. There are not quite so many shops etc, but it is generally a bit quieter and boarding seems to be a bit quicker.

Most people moan that there is no McDonalds, a good place for a cheap breakfast, but we went to the Wetherspoons for brekkie and it was excellent.

If it were not for the fact that we were already booked to fly with VA (Virgin Holidays package), we would opt for BA and the North Terminal again without hesitation.

I work part time at both terminals and much prefer the North - it just seems bigger and more spacious.

South has a good variety of shops and restaurants - in fact in November i'm flying from the south for the first time in years! Its a shame they don't have a Garfunkles as its a sort of family tradition to have one before we go - probably go to Frankie and Bennies instead. The Duty Free shop's nice tho :goodvibes

If you go on the Gatwick Airport website you can look at maps of the terminals to give you a better idea of what to expect :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful trip

Both terminals at Gatwick are fine, both have good Duty Free shops and a good variety of restaurants. I never bother with the lounges you have to pay for, and would be more than happy in either of the Gatwick terminals for a couple of hours. :)

(I think the name of your post might be confusing people - is it South you want to find out about?)

As Lucy said there is a map on the gatwick website of the terminals, so you can get a good idea of what there is for you to do in your one.

I think the South is better now they have expanded upstairs, some good shops to look around :)

Claire ;)

can anyone tell me exactly where in the south terminal the Yotel is? I can't find it on the map and I am going to book a pod for the night of 20th September.

I can answer this one! Its right next to international arrivals - we stayed there last year and will be again this year :thumbsup2

Thanks guys .... I looked on the map, and it doesnt look as spacious as the north terminal. I think we might just pay for a lounge - nice start to the holiday :)
