Hi Everyone- I think I messed up. I bought a travelcard for zones one and two (nonrefundable or exchangeable) and just discovered that our lodging is in zone 4. I hate to throw away $200 USD on the current travelcard.

Is it possible to just get a five day train ticket to get us from zone 4 to zone 2, where hopefully our travel card will work at that time? Our lodging is at Penge East station. Please give me some advice!

Thanks!

Just giving this a bump for you, hopefully a well seasoned London traveller will see it and be able to answer your question :dumbo:

I think you'll need to talk to the ticket office at Penge East station, but as it's a Mainline station (rather than underground) I guess you'll be able to at the very least to get a day return into central London and then use your travel card for sight seeing in the centre of London.

What you won't be able to do with this solution is return multiple times a day to your hotel.

Someone else might be able to come up with a better answer.

P.S. From your other post I thought you were staying at Earls Court.

Pretty sure you can buy a travel card excluding zones 1 and 2 once in London, as mentioned above ask at the station and they'll put you right.

If not make sure you get a pay as you go oyster card once in the city as this will discount the fares through zone 4 and 3 (dramatically when I used it I saved £3 (about $6) on each single trip).

Only down side being you'd have to check out of the station once in zone 2 (or at the last zone 3 stop and walk to next zone 2 station) to use your pre-paid travel card.
