We are heading to London for OFFSA. My DD's high school team won COSSA so we will be in London March 21st, 22nd, and 23rd for the big tournament.

I know we have more hockey parents here- will anyone else be there?

Not a hockey parent, but just wanterd to say good luck to your DD and her team :cheer2:

I will not be there but wanted to mention my 4 year old is starting Tkey Devilettes next season she has just started her powerskating lessons and just loves it. Now if I could get her to be a goalie like dad.

Charles that's a great age to start. Everything is so cute then. My DD didn't start until she was 9 and you could really se the difference between her and the girls that started early.

Our daughter plays goal for Oakridge, and we have an automatic berth as we are hosting the OFFSA AAA/AAAA finals this year - so we will definitely see you there. We lost the TVRAA championship to St. Thomas Aquinas last week, but are in the WOSSA semis against St. Mike's (Woodstock) on Wednesday.

Her Devilettes team (Bantam AA) just qualified for the Provincials yesterday and we have a playoff series against Waterloo upcoming this week. With only a month of hockey left the end is in sight!

You got a pretty good deal on those pants, but trust me - unless you have access to your own private banker, you don't want a child who's a goaltender. We bought DD a new pair of pads at the beginning of this season, and even though I got a good deal through a contact I have at Vaughn Sports, I spent more on those pads than I spent to fully outfit my 16yo DS, who's a left winger.

And it's not even like I'll be able to recoup my investment when she hits the NHL, either. :confused3

See you there Mike.

My DD has 2 more games before we know who goes to Provincials. I have a feeling it won't be us.

Wow - I'm reading all these posts about how expensive Hockey is. My dh is from the Uk, so he really wanted ds4 to take skating and play hockey because it is so "Canadian..." So we paid our pint of blood and signed him up for skating and then had a huge fight with him every Monday and WEdnesday night because he HATED it. :confused3 oh well. We let him quit in the end after a long talk about how we don't just join and quit things. He loves swimming so maybe he'll do that instead...sounds like it will be cheaper *until* we have to put a pool in for him to practice!! :p :rolleyes2

:thumbsup2 Cool that you're coming to our lovely city ! Good luck to everyone that will be competing.

MikeJ - Oakridge is "hosting" ? Please don't tell me that all of the games are being played in that cold :cold: arena!

Our DS5 usually ends up in tears whenever we go skating ... he doesn't quite have the hang of it yet, so no upcoming hockey for us ;) I'm secretly kind of glad because it can be an expensive sport in both terms of $$$ and time.

That would be "Oakridge" the high school, not "Oakridge" the arena hosting OFSAA this year. :) Actually, according to the web site the games will all be played at Nichols Arena - not as nice as WF but easily the next nicest arena in town. The girls played a number of their home games at Oakridge this season, and next to Silverwood it's the coldest arena in southwestern Ontario. We do a lot of :yay: just to stay warm...

I grew up as a goalie and my parents got me new gear every seaswon ans all I wore was Vaughn after Majour pee wee thankfully I get employee prices for my stuff but even at that I still have close to 15 grand in goalie equipment all custom made to measure and colours etc. I just hope she decides to be a goalie but I have a feeling she is going to want to be the centre of attention as a foreward and goal scorer LOL. The worst part for me is I haven't even gotten to play in almost 3 years because of my knees I got out 2 times this year the second time I forgot my brace and tore my ACL so I go back under the knife next Tuesday and then again possibly in Oct or Nov just before our Cruise in Dec LOL.

I am sure it will be fine I just have to realize that I don't play if I forget my brace for the knee LOL that is what did me in this season. Hockey Mom and MikeJ when are your daughters games I would like to bring my 4 year old out to see some of them as she loves to go to hockey games now especially if the girls are playing as she puts it.

I don't have the schedule yet. I do know that it is on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd and will post game times when I get them.
