Lojack for your kid! (Alterative to Leash??)

I was showing my Dd a new leash I saw on Amazon.com (Monkey Leash - monkey backpack which snaps around the child's shoulders and waist, the Monkey's tail is the leash for the parent to hold on to. They have a few other animals to choose from). And in their suggestions list of similar products my Dd noticed something strange looking.....

Giggle Bug

It's called a Giggle Bug Child Locator. The 'bug' snaps onto the back of the child's shirt and then the parent has a key-fob that you can press a button and the bug will beep loudly so you can find your child. If it falls off your child it will beep to let the parent know as well. But the one review it had said it was cheap and looked like something from the dollar store (it costs $15). It only worked once for her and then never again. Plus the bug scared the poor little boy.

They have another one called 'Mommy, I'm here.' It's a cute little bear, which can be snaped to clothing or even a shoe and works in a similar fashion.

How neat!! I was also at DCA last weekend and saw a kid with shoes that made noises. I would imagine it to get annoying after a while, but you sure could hear the kid!

Interesting idea- if it works. I've seen GPS units too, they even include an alarm if your child gets too far away from you as an option. In this day and age, I am all for whatever makes our kids safer!

I think those shoes are "squeaky shoes" or something like that... have seen those too... and yeah, you know which direction your kid has gone for sure!

Disney did something similar in their cellphones. Note that this article is 2 years old and as of that time the locator was accurate "within 50 yards". Not so useful for in the parks tracking, but a nice feature for out and about.

There are good reviews for the 'Mommy, I'm here.' One family bought it for extra protection at Disney World.

Another good idea is to make your own t-shirt with a very bright/unique cool. On that t-shirt you can write like, if i look lost, please call this #. or something along that line.
